The Best Kids’ Dentist in Columbus Parents Trust

best-kids-dentist-columbus
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

  • Patient Comfort: We evaluated how well each clinic handles dental anxiety and sensory sensitivities. A welcoming environment makes a huge difference in how children perceive oral care.

  • Specialized Training: We looked into the educational backgrounds and board certifications of the pediatric specialists. Specialized knowledge ensures providers can comfortably handle the nuanced behavioral needs of toddlers and teens.

  • Financial Flexibility: We prioritized offices that accept a wide range of insurance plans and offer alternative payment methods. Accessible care means families don’t have to delay critical treatments due to budget constraints.

  • Appointment Availability: We checked the operating hours to see how easily working parents can fit visits into their busy schedules. Flexible booking options prevent families from having to pull kids out of school frequently.

Navigating the chaos of parenting is hard enough without the added stress of a screaming toddler in a dental chair. Trust me, finding a supportive and gentle oral healthcare provider changes everything.

If you’re a first-time parent or managing a household with multiple children, securing a reliable clinic is vital. We want environments that distract nervous little ones and staff who speak their language.

That’s exactly why I put together this guide to help you find the best kids’ dentist in Columbus. You deserve a stress-free appointment, and your child deserves a healthy, confident smile.

How much does a kids’ dentist charge in Columbus?

Routine preventative exams typically run between $65 and $100 without insurance, while comprehensive visits involving X-rays or fillings can push costs closer to $300, though having coverage often reduces out-of-pocket expenses to a small co-pay.

1. Columbus Pediatric Dentistry

columbus-pediatric-dentistry

Website: http://www.pediatricdentistcolumbus.com/

Address: 1021 Country Club Rd. Unit B, Columbus, OH 43213

Contact: (614) 868-0718 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Select Fridays: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Addressing a lip or tongue tie in an infant is incredibly daunting for any new parent. Thankfully, Columbus Pediatric Dentistry uses an innovative carbon dioxide soft-tissue laser instead of traditional scissors to perform precise frenectomies, minimizing trauma for babies.

I remember speaking with a fellow mom at our local playground who raved about how calm her newborn remained during this exact laser procedure here.

They actively encourage starting visits by age one, integrating dietary advice so parents know exactly what to feed their toddlers. The clinic maintains a very child-focused environment to keep anxiety low.

However, because they strictly treat pediatric patients and teens, you cannot schedule your own routine adult cleaning at the same time, forcing you to find a separate adult provider.

Pros

  • Promotes early infant care by age one
  • Uses child-friendly behavioral techniques
  • Prioritizes emergency appointments for trauma
  • Focuses on individualized patient attention

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer adult dental services
  • Select Friday hours

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Budgeting for healthcare is often a major hurdle for families with multiple children. Clover Kids Dental strongly emphasizes financial accessibility by accepting a wide variety of Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans, CareCredit, and Medicaid, ensuring exceptional care remains affordable.

Their providers possess dedicated post-graduate training to handle the behavioral needs of nervous toddlers.

They operate with a strong mission to educate young patients about proper brushing habits, which often complements the advice you might get from local nutritionists regarding sugar intake.

The office also features modern sedation options for children requiring extensive restorative work.

The main downside is their abbreviated Friday schedule, as they close completely at noon, making it difficult for parents to secure after-school appointments.

Pros

  • Offers safe sedation dentistry
  • Staff has specialized pediatric training
  • Features highly welcoming office amenities
  • Teaches patients healthy oral habits

Cons

Address: 5770 N. Hamilton Rd. Suite A, Columbus, OH 43230

Contact: (614) 475-5439

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Finding a supportive environment for a child with sensory processing needs can feel like an impossible task. Hines Little Smiles is highly trained and explicitly dedicated to providing compassionate care for children with severe anxiety and autism.

When I brought my own highly nervous nephew here, the staff showed immense patience and entirely transformed what’s normally a dreaded medical visit into a calm experience.

They even integrate airway screenings to catch pediatric sleep apnea early, which is incredibly helpful before enrolling little ones into local preschools

To assist uninsured families, they offer an exclusive in-house membership plan for cost-effective preventative care.

That said, one drawback to their specialized attention is that standard routine cleanings might occasionally experience longer wait times if the team is actively managing a complex behavioral case nearby.

Pros

  • Integrates pediatric sleep apnea screenings
  • Offers an in-house membership plan
  • Treats restrictive oral tissues
  • Exhibits exceptional patience with phobias

Cons

  • Potential wait times for routine cleanings
  • Office is closed on Fridays

Customer Reviews:

We highly recommend Hines!

Website: https://www.clintonvillepediatricdentistry.com/

Address: 4472 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214

Contact: (614) 852-3622 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Seeing the same doctor at every single visit builds an incredible sense of trust for young patients. Clintonville Pediatric Dentistry is founded and operated by a solo board-certified specialist, providing highly localized continuity of care within the neighborhood.

The facility was constructed entirely from the ground up with the emotional and entertainment needs of growing children in mind.

They actively encourage parents to remain in the treatment room during the initial visit to establish security. This clinic also maintains strict rapid-response protocols for severe emergencies like knocked-out teeth.

However, relying entirely on a single practitioner creates a noticeable bottleneck during busy seasons. Securing last-minute routine cleaning appointments for your kids right before the back-to-school rush can be highly competitive and difficult.

Pros

  • Custom-built facility for growing children
  • Offers tailored sedation dentistry options
  • Maintains rapid-response emergency protocols
  • Encourages parents in the treatment room

Cons

  • Highly competitive scheduling during peak seasons
  • Relies entirely on a single dentist

Customer Reviews:

Dr. Jillian and her staff are simply wonderful. They know exactly how to interact with children to make the dentist a fun and informative experience for kids and parents. My kids love the dentist, and I owe that to the staff at CPD. I couldn’t recommend them enough!

My kids actually look forward to going to the dentist

Clintonville Pediatric Dentistry is a phenomenal practice. They are so great at putting my kids at ease and talking to them, not just the adults. My kids actually look forward to going to the dentist. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

5. Worthington Pediatric Dentists

worthington-pediatric-dentists

Website: http://www.worthingtonpediatric.com/

Address: 8121 N High St, Columbus, OH 43235

Contact: (614) 888-3212

Hours: Monday – Tuesday & Thursday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM & 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM; Wednesday: 8:00 AM-12:30 PM & 2:00 PM-5:00 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM-3:00 PM; Every Other Saturday: 9:00 AM-1:00 PM

Transitioning teenagers to a new provider once they age out of a pediatric clinic is incredibly frustrating. Worthington Pediatric Dentists functions as a full-service dental home that comfortably treats patients from six months of age through adulthood.

Their lead practitioner has been on staff at a local children’s hospital since 1983, allowing them to treat medically compromised cases under full general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

Beyond basic fillings, they seamlessly offer advanced orthodontic integrations like clear aligners under the same roof. The team even handles complex multi-specialty restorations for older teens.

Because they treat such a massive spectrum of patients, the clinic environment may not feel exclusively child-centric. Families looking for a highly themed boutique waiting room dedicated strictly to toddlers might find the general atmosphere here a bit mature for their liking.

Pros

  • Treats patients through full adulthood
  • Offers advanced comprehensive orthodontics
  • Features deep academic and clinical roots
  • Performs multi-specialty teen restorations

Cons

  • Waiting room lacks a strict child-centric theme
  • General atmosphere may feel mature
