As someone who has performed in several community theater productions, I can tell you that being a singer is much like being an athlete.
To prove my point, a friendly castmate kept cracking and losing her voice during a rehearsal. Though her line delivery and singing were powerful, her stability required improvement.
Worried, she asked me if I knew any solid vocal coaches. I was curious myself, so I entered research mode and identified the best singing lesson providers in Columbus who could help her sing more healthily. If you want to sing your best the proper way, check out our shortlist.
How much do singing lessons cost in Columbus?
Singing lessons in Columbus typically cost between $30 and $80 per session, depending on the instructor’s expertise, format (online, in-person, single, or group), session duration, and other extras.

Belcanto Voice and Music Studio runs fully online lessons in voice, cello, piano, and musical theater for beginners to advanced students worldwide.
Lead instructors Miljan Krunic and Daniel Ferguson met in Austria in 2013, where they completed studies in classical music and linguistics. This was before they moved to the US to teach music and language.
We believe they stand out with holistic training that covers vocal physiology and repertoire in foreign languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, and German.
Their mission also emphasizes the therapeutic use of music for relaxation, guided by the values of diverse artistry and student success.
To achieve this, they offer high-quality 45-minute voice lessons that teach breath support, projection, diction, and registers. Plus, you can learn to act through song, audition with a 16 or 32-bar cut, or get specialized consultations.
Packages or exact prices aren’t listed online, but we have heard from former clients that the lessons here generally match local standards. This ranges from $40 to $80 per hour.
If you plan to go with friends, note that this company primarily offers individual lessons. They don’t offer dedicated group voice classes, such as choir or ensemble singing.
Highly professional, deeply compassionate, and exceptionally spirited
“Miljan is a highly professional, deeply compassionate, and exceptionally spirited and enthusiastic teacher. He clearly loves craft, wants the best for his students, and has the knowledge to be able to adapt the learning to individual needs. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone wanting to develop their vocal skill and confidence!”

On top of his talent, he’s simply a wonderful human being. Highly recommend hiring him!”

Musicologie was established in 2014 by professional musicians Kay and Joseph Barker, with pedagogical certifications ranging from Level M1 to M3+. They combine their performance experience with a play-based learning approach in a safe environment.
We find it incredible that they now have multiple studios across Ohio and have taught more than 10,000 students. Many are between 5 and 12 years old, but they also teach toddlers and adults.
Their vocal services range from karaoke to classical training and audition preparation. The team has many options for teaching instruments, including piano, guitar, and violin.
This music school also shines with its group programs, such as RockStars bands, Accelerated Labs, and community events. We reckon these are perfect for friends or those who want to make new ones.
After signing up online for a 30-minute assessment, the teachers appear flexible and can offer weekly private or group lessons in person or online. You can choose a session length of 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
Their pricing aligns with the Columbus average of $40 to $80 per hour. Memberships are billed monthly (prorated for mid-month starts), and drop-ins are also available.
However, there are times when the studio’s busy schedule limits the availability of popular teachers during primetime.
My 6-year-old loved his first lesson
“My 6yo loved his first lesson- said he wanted to go back immediately to play some more. We’ve done lessons at musicologie with my oldest as well and they are great!”

It’s fun, interactive, and exciting
“We are absolutely loving the music class for younger kids (up to 5). It’s fun and interactive, and they also teach music concepts. I appreciate I can be in the room with my daughter while she’s learning too. We’re really excited to continue lessons!”

Beyond Arts & Music is a family-focused studio highlighting community, connection, and collaboration through Kindermusik classes for babies to young kids. This includes piano lessons that feel fun and group-oriented rather than rigid.
Opened around 2020, this company is owned by Christa Price Murphy. She’s a lifelong city resident with performance experience in NYC. Supported by her family, she leads a team of energetic instructors passionate about music, theater, and community.
More specifically, they excel in early childhood music development that builds lifelong bonds and teamwork. We reckon this differentiates their crew from other solo, adult-focused teachers.
Their session rates are in line with typical rates for Columbus kids’ music, ranging from $20 to $40 per group class or over $50 per private piano hour.
Just remember that while they welcome students of all ages in some classes, their focus remains on toddlers and school-age beginners rather than teens and adults.
And since they focus on in-person sessions, keep in mind that they don’t offer online options for flexibility.
The most welcoming and helpful community
“The most welcoming and helpful community to take your little ones to. My boys look forward to classes and open play sessions every week and have had the opportunity to meet other little ones and learn together. Miss Christa is a top notch leader who my boys love to spend time with.”
– Gabrielle Miller, Google Review
We love the kind learning environment
“We absolutely love Beyond Arts & Music and Miss Christa! She is a ray of sunshine even on the coldest winter days. Miss Christa expertly engages my toddler and baby with ease in the Kindermusik class. We love the kind learning environment.”

4. True Colors Creativity & Artist Coaching (Jess Baldwin)

Contact Details: [email protected]
True Colors Creativity & Artist Coaching stands out for its holistic coaching for singers and creatives, helping them complete meaningful projects.
They are led by Jess Baldwin. She’s a seasoned music educator, indie-soul singer-songwriter, and creativity coach based in the Columbus area.
She’s been teaching voice and piano since 2025 and has directed choirs like InstaChoir in Columbus in 2019. Additionally, her credibility is strengthened by her position as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Voice at Ohio University since 2025.
And unlike standard technique lessons, we love that this studio offers breakthrough artist coaching, creativity workshops, and guidance on project completion. For us, this is a lot more comprehensive in terms of talent and confidence-building.
Just note that their fees start at $150 per hour, which is higher than the city average for basic singing lessons.
Still, this rate is standard for specialized coaching, which already covers custom plans, tools for blocks, and sustained momentum.
We find it convenient that their services are 100% online as well, so you can learn via Zoom from anywhere in the world.
Amazed at how much stronger my voice is now
“I have had several lessons with Jess now and I am amazed at how much stronger my voice is now. I started taking lessons due to vocal fatigue. She immediately diagnosed the trouble spots and began to help me further understand what was happening to my voice and why. After a few minutes of warm-ups I could already hear such a big difference. I am thankful to have found such a knowledge and skilled teacher her truly cares.”
– Amy Garner, Google Review

“Jess is kind, knowledgeable on all matters voice related, and so fun to work with! Anyone looking to develop their voice will benefit greatly from even just one session like I did. Highly recommend!”

Vaughan Music Studios has provided private lessons, a recording studio, and artist development under one roof since approximately 2006.
They started with only 10 students. Yet, we find it incredible that they quickly expanded to a full facility with soundproof classrooms, a pro recording studio, and a 1,000 sq ft performance space serving hundreds today.
Responsible for this is their owner and director, Cindy Vaughan, who serves as a vocal teacher, producer, and performance coach.
It’s also reassuring that their teachers hold music degrees and have over a decade of experience with diverse learning styles.
Moreover, their team excels at flexibility, with random scheduling and online education. They even offer a full ecosystem from lessons to launch.
Regarding their fees, you will need a quote, but the company typically charges at the city standard. You can save more with discounts on random or weekend slots too.
Still, a client we spoke with noted a lack of responsiveness from the staff until after the criticism was posted online. This could be a one-off scenario, though, so we still advise exploring any voice coaching service with an open mind.
Phenomenal vocal coach
“Jody is a phenomenal vocal coach. She puts a lot of thought into the growth of her students and makes the learning process very fun! Highly recommend her”
– James Woods, Google Review
