The 5 Best Notary Publics in Columbus for Every Need

best-notary-public-columbus
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: We looked at the variety of documents each provider can legally handle. This helped us gauge whether they could process basic affidavits, real estate paperwork, business forms, and other common requests.

Pricing Packages: We compared baseline document fees with travel charges, online service costs, and any added convenience fees. Clear pricing matters because notarization is often needed during already stressful paperwork deadlines.

Specialist Approach: We prioritized providers that appear careful about state rules, identity checks, and document accuracy. Even a small technical mistake can lead to rejected paperwork, so compliance mattered a lot.

Location Accessibility: We considered office locations, mobile coverage, online options, and operating hours across Columbus. Providers with evening, weekend, or same-day help ranked better for urgent signing needs.

Staff Credentials: We looked at training, certifications, and service focus. A qualified notary helps keep sensitive paperwork secure and properly witnessed.

Getting documents authenticated should not feel like a legal maze, especially when you’re already juggling school applications, business contracts, or real estate paperwork.

We know how frustrating it can be to chase down an authorized signature at the last minute. That need for reliability also shows up in other areas of legal work or handling company registrations.

That is why we looked at the best notary public in Columbus based on accessibility, professionalism, document support, and overall convenience.

This guide pulls together local options that can help verify your paperwork so you can move forward with less stress.

How much does a notary public cost in Columbus?

Contact: (614) 530-ADAM (2326)

Hours: 24 Hours

Finding someone awake to verify legal documents at unusual hours can feel impossible. Ohio Notary is useful for exactly that situation because Adam Lepp runs the mobile and online operation around the clock.

One of our colleagues reached out for a late-night document verification, and the quick response made a stressful deadline feel manageable.

He can travel to your home or office within his covered area, and the RON option is helpful when you would rather handle digital paperwork from home.

The extra tech support is a plus for clients who are not comfortable with online files.

The tradeoff is that this is a one-person business, so you may run into a wait if another urgent appointment is already booked.

Pros

  • Offers Remote Online Notarization (RON)
  • Travels directly to your location
  • Provides extra tech support services

Cons

Securing a signature for someone who cannot easily leave home takes patience, and that’s where Golden Ink Mobile Notary feels especially practical.

Founded by Michelle Bennett, this woman- and minority-owned business focuses on mobile support for homebound clients, nursing facility residents, and people who need a safer public meeting spot.

What stands out is that she can meet at places such as a local library and can also help with mobile fingerprint card services. That gives the service more flexibility than a basic walk-in counter.

Highly recommended

Fabulous! I was in a government office and had just found out my notary had made a mistake with my document. I’m from out of town and was just contemplating trying to find a local notary and get everything done before closing when Michelle spoke up. She was behind me in line and had heard of my problem. Out of the goodness of her heart she notarized a copy of my document on site, free of charge, and pulled me out of a tough situation. Highly recommended

Very pleasant to work with

Michelle is amazing! My family has used her notary services twice this year. She is professional and prompt. She even worked with our schedule when we had to reschedule after she had arrived. Very pleasant to work with and responsive. If you need a notary, she is the one to call!

3. The UPS Store

the-ups-store

Website: https://locations.theupsstore.com/

Address: 3000 E Main St Ste B

Contact: (614) 237-5770

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Sometimes you only need basic paperwork processed and shipped without turning it into a whole afternoon.

This United Parcel Service (UPS) Store location works well for that kind of errand because you can handle notarization, copying, and overnight shipping at the same counter.

It’s very useful for straightforward forms and business paperwork, especially when timing matters more than a highly specialized notary appointment. Their weekday hours also make it easy to stop in during a lunch break.

The catch is that extra witnesses are not guaranteed, which can matter for more complex legal forms.

Weekend availability may also be limited, so we would call before heading over outside the regular weekday window.

Pros

  • Easy walk-in access on weekdays
  • Secure overnight shipping available on-site
  • Full suite of document finishing options
  • Ideal for combined business tasks

Cons

  • Cannot guarantee extra signature witnesses
  • Weekend availability may be limited

Customer Reviews

Very friendly and diligent

I struggled finding a notary at the UPS store close from my home, but from the very first contact on the phone they were very attentive and informed me of the times they’re available to notarize. Once there they pointed a typo on my documents and we’re very helpful and patient while I sorted this out. All the staff is very friendly and very diligent.

Extremely grateful

Excellent service!!! These guys had me in and out  within minutes on a task that usually took months to do! I’m extremely grateful for the Notary and advice along the way. Once again thank you for making my life easier!

4. We Ship It

we-ship-it

Website: https://www.weshipit.store/

Address: 1121 Worthington Woods Blvd

Contact: (614) 318-5323

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sunday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Managing a move usually means juggling errands that don’t fit neatly into one stop.

We Ship It helps with that because it combines notary services with shipping, private mailboxes, document shredding, and truck rentals.

A friend of mine recently mentioned they rented a moving van here and were able to get a new apartment lease notarized during the same visit. That kind of convenience is hard to beat when your schedule is already packed.

They also handle more involved financial loan agreements and offer both in-office and mobile notary options.

The main downside is price. Their base rate starts at ten dollars, which is above Ohio’s state minimum, but weekend hours, including Sunday availability, add real value.

Pros

  • Open on weekends including Sundays
  • Handles complex financial loan agreements
  • Offers on-site secure document shredding
  • Provides alternate mobile options

Cons

  • Base rate exceeds the state minimum
  • Mobile availability may vary by schedule

5. Rooted Notary and Background Solutions

rooted-notary-and-background-solutions

Website: https://www.rootednotary.com/

Address: 1890 E Main St

Contact: 614-600-9886

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Rooted Notary and Background Solutions make the most sense for employers, nonprofits, and anyone dealing with identity checks alongside notarized paperwork.

The business combines traditional mobile verification with official Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprinting support.

The live scan setup is useful because it sends fingerprints electronically and can help speed up background-check processing.

That’s especially helpful for group hiring events or onboarding sessions where several people need to move through the process efficiently.

They also offer a remote online platform for paperwork that can be handled digitally.

The main drawback is that they strictly cap their appointments to standard weekday business hours, making it tough for those needing evening assistance.

Pros

  • Provides official electronic fingerprinting
  • Accommodates large employer group events
  • Utilizes secure live scan technology
  • Offers a remote online platform

Cons

  • Better for compliance needs than urgent walk-ins
  • Appointments restricted to standard weekday hours
