Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Sunday: Closed

Trusting your delicate antique fabrics to just anyone is risky, which is why a specialized operation stands out. Run by President Jeff Smith, Columbus Lace Dry Cleaning brings four generations of expertise and over a century of experience to the table.

They use a mild petroleum-based solvent and continuous filtration instead of harsh chemicals to keep your delicate items safe.

I recently spoke to someone who hired them, and they really appreciated how this eco-friendly approach reinvigorates older household fabrics.

However, you do have to plan your drop-offs carefully since their limited weekday operating hours end at 3:00 p.m. They offset this with a handy pick-up and delivery service, though it runs on a neighborhood-specific schedule rather than daily availability.

Pros

  • Specialized care for delicate and antique items
  • Eco-friendly solvents and active recycling practices
  • Pick-up and delivery available throughout central Ohio
  • Over a century of established local reliability

Cons

  • Closes early at 3:00 p.m. on weekdays
  • Neighborhood delivery schedules are restricted

Fantastic work

Strongly recommend!!! I have used Columbus Lace for ALL my dry-cleaning needs since the late 90’s. Steve and his team do fantastic work and are nice, down to earth, businesspeople operating with absolute integrity. I also appreciate they are THE ONLY dry-cleaner in Columbus who uses solutions that are Eco-friendly AND carcinogen-free. I think their family business has been around for like 105 years now??? Drivers can pick-up and deliver from your home, or you can stop in to their location in German Village. 5 Stars!!!

Their Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) trained technicians use a thorough multi-step method to safely extract dirt.

They perform most of their work hassle-free without taking anything down, though highly unusual fabrics might still require removal. If you’re doing a massive renovation requiring a dumpster rental, having them come in afterward to refresh your textiles is a smart move.

You will just need to plan ahead for weekend appointments, as their Saturday schedule is quite limited.

Sensitive materials like silk and velvet need a gentle touch to avoid shrinking or losing their plush texture. Fiber-Seal of Central Ohio specializes in these delicate fabrics, bringing decades of local expertise to every single job.

They use GREENGUARD Gold Certified fabric protection solutions to ensure low chemical emissions for safer indoor air quality.

I have personally used their Prestige Protection Program, and the free emergency spot cleaning really saved my curtains after an unexpected spill.

However, it’s worth noting that their protective treatments do wear off eventually, requiring a paid reapplication down the road.

They also cannot guarantee the complete removal of every stain, but their thorough initial assessment is always upfront about what to expect.

Pros

  • Safe for sensitive silks and velvet
  • Biodegradable and non-toxic solutions
  • Built-in fabric odor neutralization
  • Detailed pre-cleaning fabric inspection

Cons

  • Complete stain removal isn’t guaranteed
  • Protection treatments require eventual reapplication

Fantastic job

Communication and coordination of service was timely and detailed. The technicians were prompt and did a fantastic job, even removing stains that had been difficult to remove from previous cleanings. Our staff were grateful to come into the office to a fresh work environment! Thanks!

5. COIT Cleaning and Restoration

Website: https://www.coit.com/columbus/residential/drapery-blind-cleaning

Address: 4274 Groves Rd, Columbus, OH 43232

Contact: 614-541-8423 | [email protected]

Hours: Available 24/7

Choosing a company that actually pioneered specialized fabric care guarantees a high level of technical skill. COIT Cleaning and Restoration developed their signature drapery cleaning method over 75 years ago, ensuring precise finishes with parallel pleats and zero shrinkage.

They back their work with a strong satisfaction guarantee, offering free re-cleaning or a depreciated credit if repairs are impossible.

Their allergen removal process is fantastic for stripping away pet dander and smoke, which is something a detailed home inspection might even note as a positive for your property.

Just be aware that their depreciated replacement credit only covers the actual cash value of an item, not a brand-new replacement. Also, specific geographic restrictions mean they might not service every single address in the area.

Pros

  • Over 75 years of specialized industry experience
  • Precision finishing prevents any fabric shrinkage
  • Effectively strips away allergens and trapped odors
  • Handles complex and unusual window treatments

Cons

  • Geographic service restrictions apply
  • Damage credit based strictly on depreciated value (not brand-new value)

Reasonable, nice, and dependable

Most places like this, in my experience, tend to not call to confirm appointments or just don’t show up. So when I mistakenly thought I scheduled an appointment for last week and no one came, it wasn’t much of a surprise for me.

Luckily, someone called to confirm and I explained the mishap. They were very nice. It gave me a good impression that they are reasonable, nice, and a dependable company. Will definitely call when I need their service.
