1. Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society

Website: ohiocremation.org
Address: 5464 North High Street
Contact: (614) 840-0900
Hours: Available 24/7
Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society stands out as the only licensed firm in the area dedicated solely to cremation. They keep a transparent flat rate of $1,449 for simple arrangements, so you know exactly what you’ll pay.
They also make things convenient by letting you handle arrangements at home, online, or over the phone.
When I visited their memorial center to look at the facilities, the caring atmosphere was immediately obvious. I appreciated that the staff are local community members who guide you gently through each step.
The one drawback is the strict legal requirement to work only with the official next of kin, which can cause a little friction if other relatives want to make the arrangements. That same policy, though, is what keeps the process legally clean and clear.

Supportive and never rushed
No one wants to think about having to say goodbye to family, but Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society have been wonderful to work with. Samantha and Elizabeth have taken care of 2 of my family members within 1 year and have been very supportive and sympathetic while going through the process of grieving. They will walk you through the process and answer any and all questions without rushing.

An exceptional experience
My family’s experience with Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society was exceptional. Given the situation we were moving through, not just the passing of one loved one but two within three months of each other, we could not have asked for better support. All of the staff and the director were personable, caring, and knowledgeable of Ohio’s laws. For simple services and for preplanning and guidance through the legal processes of end of life, I would highly recommend them a million times over.

2. Families First Cremation and Funeral at Edwards

Website: familiesfirstedwards.com
Address: 1166 Parsons Ave
Contact: (614) 444-3200

Families First Cremation and Funeral at Edwards works hard to keep things affordable, with competitive packages starting at just $1,235 and a completely transparent price structure.
They use a low-overhead model to pass significant savings directly to families while keeping the care high.
Unlike providers that only offer simple packages, this is a full-service funeral home. So you can arrange traditional burials, viewings, or graveside services alongside cremation.
I appreciated that their licensed directors offer hands-on support around the clock with paperwork and planning.
That said, some families reported the staff didn’t fully honor requested obituary changes after the initial planning, which can be frustrating during an emotional week.
But the breadth of affordable, full-service options still makes it a strong choice.

Helped us plan a beautiful ceremony
My mother had the foresight to have a pre-paid cremation. Families First Cremation & Funeral at Edwards was her choice to take care of her cremation. Everything was handled with just one phone call to them. My family and I had decided we wanted to have a memorial service at their chapel, and Thaddeus and his staff did an excellent job at helping us plan a beautiful ceremony at a very reasonable cost. My family and I were treated with compassion and respect. My mom made a very wise choice.

I appreciated that the team is available 24/7 to provide immediate support as soon as you reach out, and the packages are built as budget-conscious alternatives to high-priced traditional funerals.
On the downside, the facility has had some climate-control issues during large summer gatherings. A few attendees also felt the reception seating was a bit cramped.
However, the all-in-one convenience and warm care still earn it a spot here.

Very nice and affordable
We had a great experience. Ms. Sheila, the owner, was great. They really worked with my mom. She had no life insurance for her husband, but she was able to say goodbye and get a cremation. Even though we couldn’t afford a casket, they still set him up to where it was still nice. They even applied for her to get a grant from the VA to help with cost that we had no idea about. Again, very nice and affordable.

Handled my mom with care and respect
I just can’t say enough good things about this business. Sheila is awesome and so sweet. She is so helpful and caring. Her and her son were so welcoming and they hug you goodbye, which is so caring. I would definitely recommend this funeral and cremation service to anyone who is needing it now or in the future. You will not regret it. Thank you Evergreen for everything you did. You handled my mom with care and respect and I will always be grateful.

Leaf Cremation of Ohio takes a streamlined, modern approach, with a clear flat-rate price of $1,495 for their basic package that covers all the essentials.
The base package includes transportation within 100 miles, paperwork handling, and the personal hand delivery of remains back to your family.
You can complete the entire arrangement online or over the phone from home, which really cuts down the logistics during a stressful time.
I spoke with a representative who confirmed they manage everything on-site without outsourcing to third parties.
That said, the initial guidance can feel a bit transactional, especially outside regular business hours. A few families also noticed minor clerical errors in early communications.
Once things are underway, though, the fully remote, all-on-site process runs smoothly.

Excellent coordination
Four family members so far (3 caskets, 1 cremation) were entrusted to Newcomer over the past 20 years. I know at least 2 more family members will use their services again. No need to say more. Coordination between Newcomer and cemetery services is excellent.

Truly a blessing
I don’t know how to put into words expressing my heartfelt thanks to Zaya and staff at Newcomer. Right from the start my sister and I were welcomed with warm honesty and sincere kindness that you don’t find these days. There were no pressure sale shenanigans, just openness and honesty. I am forever thankful to everyone I made contact with. They are truly a blessing.
