The 5 Best Electricians in Columbus for Safe, Reliable Repairs

best-electricians-columbus
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range and Expertise: I looked for contractors who can handle common repairs, panel work, outlet installs, fixture upgrades, and larger wiring issues. Companies with a broader mix of residential and commercial experience scored higher.

Response Time and Availability: Electrical problems can quickly become safety risks, so availability was a major concern. I gave more weight to companies with emergency support, same-day options, or clear ways to reach a technician.

Licensing and Safety Standards: Electrical work must comply with code and protect the property long after the repair is complete. I favored contractors that emphasize certified technicians, proper grounding, and safety-focused inspections.

Pricing and Transparency: Nobody wants to approve a repair only to be surprised by hidden charges. Companies with clear estimates, flat-rate options, or upfront explanations ranked better.

Reputation and Customer Feedback: I looked at how customers described the service after real repairs, not just what the company says about itself. Consistent praise for professionalism, cleanup, and communication helped shape the final picks.

Finding the best electrician in Columbus can be stressful when a flickering light, an outdated panel, or a surprise wiring issue starts affecting your day.

I find it similar to scheduling a detailed home inspection, because you need someone who’s careful, communicative, and honest. It matters even more during bigger renovations, where you might also be arranging a dumpster rental.

To make the search easier, I looked at local electrical companies that stand out for safety, responsiveness, clear pricing, and practical repair experience. Read on!

Address: 3208 Morse Road

Contact: (614) 267-4111

Hours: Daily, 12:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Safe Electric and Plumbing is a strong pick if you want one team that can handle electrical safety without making the process feel intimidating.

I liked that their setup covers code-compliant installations, phone consultations, and related plumbing help, which can be useful when an older home has multiple issues at once.

Their team also seems comfortable explaining technical work in plain language, which matters when you’re dealing with panels, fixtures, or safety upgrades. Plus, their daily schedule is a real convenience if you can’t wait for a weekday appointment.

Be prepared for the costs, though. Their more robust solutions can sit on the premium side, and larger diagnostic jobs may require extra planning before the scope feels fully clear.

Still, for homeowners who want careful work and safety-first service, they are easy to understand as a top choice.

Pros

  • Code-compliant electrical installations
  • Specialized leak detection support
  • Strong customer safety focus
  • Accessible phone consultations
  • Daily service hours

Cons

  • Premium pricing for robust solutions
  • Larger diagnostics can add complexity

Professional and Knowledgeable Electrical Service

Chris and Kory were great. They were polite, friendly and professional. They answered all of our questions and explained technical aspects in understandable layman’s terms. They moved furniture and cleaned up when they were done. When a thorny issue came up, they consulted with Caleb, another electrician at Safe Electric with many years of experience, to arrive at a solution. We are pleased with their service.

Quick Response and Highly Knowledgeable Technician

Needed an electrician quickly. Safe Electric had one at our house within an hour. Tom was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. I will certainly use them again if needed. Top notch.

2. Mr. Electric of Columbus

mr-electric-of-columbus

Website: mrelectric.com

Address: 425 N Brice Rd, Blacklick

Hours: Available 24/7

Mr. Electric of Columbus works well for anyone who feels calmer hiring a nationally recognized brand with a local office. Their biggest appeal is structure: flat-rate quotes, free safety inspections before work begins, and 24/7 availability for urgent failures.

I also like that they focus on code-compliant repairs and proper equipment grounding, which are important if you want to protect a manufacturer’s warranty after an upgrade.

Their same-day scheduling option is also helpful when a repair cannot be delayed for several days.

The main catch is that some promotions come with franchise-specific rules. For example, you may need to show a physical coupon at the time of service, and not every advertised discount may apply locally.

Even with that limitation, their clear communication and emergency availability make them a practical choice.

Pros

  • Praised communication and professionalism
  • Continuous around-the-clock availability
  • Code-compliant safety assurance
  • Reliable warranty protection
  • Exact flat-rate quotes

Cons

  • Strict promotional coupon requirements
  • Franchise-specific discount limits

Fast Diagnosis and Next-Day Repairs

Thanking this company and the electrician himself, Lawrence M. Very motivated and adamant at diagnosing and fixing the issue. Everything was replaced/upgraded the very next day after the issue was diagnosed the afternoon before. Very fast about getting things setup and going. My family and I are very happy and thankful that we got ahold of this company and got someone very helpful and communicative about everything. Would recommend this company to anyone along with Lawrence himself.

Outstanding Diagnostics and Personable Service

Outstanding experience with Mr Electric. Our technician, James Pinson, was extremely knowledgeable, competent and personable. He was very thorough with his diagnostic approach and resolved our issue nicely. I have been disappointed many times with electricians who did not meet my requirements, but I am happy to say that I’ve found a reputable electrician who knows his craft and will be my electrician for all future needs.

Address: 1580 Fishinger Road, Ste 290F

Contact: (614) 705-6220 | 614-664-8800 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday, By Appointment; service line available 24/7

Buckeye Electric of Upper Arlington feels like a good fit if you want residential electrical help without a hard upsell. Their no-commission approach stood out to me because it lowers the pressure around panel upgrades and bigger repair recommendations.

They also offer free in-person estimates, a lifetime transferable labor warranty, and a direct text line to the head electrician, which can make scheduling less clunky.

I especially like that they prioritize homes with complete heat loss in winter, since electrical issues can quickly become comfort and safety problems. They can also handle data lines and smart camera wiring, so the service range feels current.

The downside is that they don’t take responsibility for drywall repair after electrical work, and outlying properties may be declined when call volume is high.

Pros

  • Free in-person project estimates
  • Emergency priority for heat loss
  • Comprehensive modern data capabilities
  • Rigorously trained electrical apprentices
  • Lifetime transferable labor warranty

Cons

  • Drywall repair liability exemptions
  • Outlying service area declines

Exceptional Service During Emergency Outage

After a recent windstorm we were left with an electric meter that had been ripped off our house and no power. Buckeye Electric was the only electrician company willing to come out and reinstall our meter on a Sunday morning so that we could have power again. The owner came out and went above and beyond, also checking where the lines connected to the breaker box.

Impressive Quality and Quick Turnaround Time

I needed an Electrician and contacted Buckeye but they were booked. I started to move on when they contacted me back saying they just had a cancellation. They arrived about an hour after I called them. They installed 2) 240 lines for my business equipment that same day. Very impressed with the quality and turnaround. The electricians were very knowledgeable and friendly! Thank you!!

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; emergency services available

R & T Yoder Electric, Inc. – Central Columbus is helpful when an electrical problem affects other systems in the house.

They keep electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work under one roof, which can simplify bigger property failures.

Their same-day dispatch, lifetime craftsmanship warranty, and no-surprise upfront pricing model give the service a more organized feel.

I also like that their technicians perform load analyses before recommending upgrades, since that helps avoid buying more panel capacity than you actually need.

The company’s diagnostic equipment is another plus for hard-to-trace issues.

However, the free panel safety inspection only comes with a paid service, and full residential panel replacements can take most of the day.

For complex home systems, though, the bundled approach is useful.

Pros

  • Deep localized community roots
  • Comprehensive electrical load analysis
  • Complex property diagnostic expertise
  • Complete state credential backing
  • Lifetime craftsmanship warranty

Cons

  • Conditional free panel inspections
  • Lengthy replacement project timeframes

Friendly Experts for Complex Outdoor Wiring

Seth and Elias did an amazing job wiring 3 outdoor complex outlets exactly as I requested. They answered all my questions and were very friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend them highly and feel very comfortable recommending Yoder Electric whenever I am asked for a reliable electrician. Many thanks for making this a good experience!

5. Quality Electric

quality-electric

Website: qualityohio.com

Address: 6200 Huntley Rd Suite D

Contact: (614) 431-9500 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Quality Electric makes sense for larger jobs where you want one company to manage both small repairs and major commercial upgrades.

Their decades of experience show in the way they emphasize upfront pricing, safety investments, and practical planning before work begins.

I liked that they can handle residential electric vehicle (EV) charger installation while also creating energy-efficient lighting plans for businesses. That mix makes them useful for property owners who need more than a quick outlet fix.

Commercial clients also receive priority response, which is helpful when downtime starts to cost money.

On the downside, their rigid upfront pricing can limit hourly adjustments, and the standard 12-month project warranty may feel short for clients who want longer protection for larger investments.

Pros

  • Dedicated commercial project prioritization
  • Comprehensive site safety investments
  • Electric vehicle charger capabilities
  • Customized energy-efficient lighting optimization
  • Decades of industry experience

Cons

  • Limited standard warranty duration
  • Rigid upfront pricing structures

Customer Reviews

Professional Installation and Honest Pricing Policy

I hired Quality Electric to install a ceiling fan and a ceiling light in two of my bedrooms. The electricians were professional and completed the job in a timely manner. After a mix up regarding the cost of the job when the electricians told me a higher price than I was originally quoted, the company stood by the lower price and later refunded me the difference. I would definitely consider Quality Electric if you are searching for an electrician in Central Ohio.

Flexible Scheduling and Professional Electricians

Had a great experience with Quality Electric. The person that I scheduled the appointment with was very friendly. They were very flexible on appointment timing. The electrician was knowledgeable and professional. A+++ all around. Highly recommended.
