Contact: (614) 451-7110

Hours: Monday to Saturday: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Sunday: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Belle’s Bread feels like a small Japanese-style bakery inside a busy shopping center, with the smell of fresh melon pan and soft rolls greeting visitors right away.

This family-owned, French-inspired Japanese bakery makes everything from scratch daily, and the freshness is noticeable in every bite.

Also, pastries here are light, soft, and not overly sweet. Popular items like matcha cornets and strawberry shortcakes are always on display too.

However, the bakery does not carry traditional American-style items, which may limit options for some customers.

Even so, it remains a strong choice for those who enjoy delicate, freshly made Japanese-inspired baked goods with consistent quality and a unique flavor style.

Pros

  • Baked fresh daily in-house
  • Unique French-Japanese recipe mix
  • High-quality superior ingredients
  • Lightly sweet cake profiles

Cons

  • No traditional American items

Delicious pastries

This Japanese bakery is a perfect place to go after a nice bowl of ramen next door. They have delicious pastries as well as a coffee and crepe station. They also have pastries shaped like teddy bears which I think is very fun. Inside was clean and the staff was nice as well.

Everything here is amazing

It’s such a good place, I’ve been going for years. Everything here is amazing, the drinks, the crepes, and the bakery! I’ve only had 2 things I haven’t liked here (the cheesecakes but my friends love them) and I’ve had practically them all over the years. It gets really busy and packed on the weekends but that’s every store around here. Can’t recommend it enough!

2. Pistacia Vera

Website: http://www.pistaciavera.com/

Address: 541 South 3rd Street

Contact: (614) 220-9070

Hours: Monday to Friday:  7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Saturday to Sunday:  8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Pistacia Vera brings a touch of Paris to German Village with its cozy, refined bakery atmosphere.

From what I’ve seen, the shop is known for its elegant French pastries and handcrafted macarons, all displayed with a strong focus on visual and culinary detail.

On top of that, their signature items (such as almond croissants paired with espresso) make it ideal for a slow, relaxed morning visit. Plus, seasonal menu rotations keep the selection fresh and interesting.

However, the menu remains small and highly specialized, which means the everyday bakery variety is limited.

Still, the quality-focused approach ensures that each item is carefully prepared, making it a standout destination for lovers of specialty pastries.

Pros

  • Authentic scratch-made French pastries
  • Rotating seasonal menu additions
  • Specialized espresso drink pairings
  • Renowned high-quality Parisian macarons

Cons

  • Hyper-focused narrow menu

A great place to visit

Very cute bakery and coffeehouse. The raspberry pistachio eclair is delicious. Also, the macarons and the almond croissants are amazing. Latte is perfectly balanced. I really liked the boxes and the representation. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There was no place to sit inside, only outside seating. If you are in the area then it’s a great place to visit.

The bakery items are fantastic

This cafe is the cutest. It’s very small and it can fill up quickly, so I wouldn’t plan on dining there. The bakery items are fantastic, and they have some tasty breakfast/brunch options as well. The chocolate bombé is amazing!!!

3. Auddino’s Italian Bakery

auddinos-italian-bakery

Website: https://www.auddinositalianbakery.com/

Address: 1490 Clara Street

Contact: (614) 294- 2577

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Auddino’s Italian Bakery has been part of the neighborhood for years and is known for its traditional, scratch-made Italian baked goods.

One of the things that stands out is the bakery’s selection of fresh breads, pastries, donuts, and cannoli, all of which reflect a strong homemade quality.

On top of that, the glazed donuts are soft and fresh, and the crusty rolls are a favorite for sandwiches. They’re as good as what you’d find at top restaurants in Columbus.

Also, there’s a wide selection available early in the morning, so it’s easy to stop by for a quick pickup.

However, the bakery is closed on Sundays and operates on limited Saturday hours, which can make planning visits a bit inconvenient for weekend customers.

Even so, it’s still a trusted local favorite for classic Italian baking.

Pros

  • Traditional authentic Italian selection
  • Fully scratch-made daily doughs
  • Large early morning variety
  • Long-standing local family history

Cons

  • Closed completely on Sundays

Serves some of the most delicious treats in Columbus

The classic hole in the wall bakery experience you need! Off the beaten path, Auddinos is a family run business that doesn’t look like much from the outside but beholds some of the most delicious treats in Columbus. They are serving up classic Italian pastries and desserts along with fresh breads, doughs, and some grocery items.  The lobster tail is worth the trip, grab some Italian cookies while you’re there and then maybe a pizza crust for dinner!

Classic Italian bakery

Old school Italian bakery. I love that the owner and his wife are usually there- you can tell they care deeply about their business. I love the lobster tails, cannoli, and they have other breads and things that are much tastier than any grocery store bread! I hope they stay in business for generations to come!

Finding desserts that fit specific dietary needs without sacrificing flavor can be tricky, but Pattycake Bakery makes it feel easy.

This fully vegan bakery focuses on locally made sweet treats like cupcakes and cookies that still feel rich and satisfying. Biting into their chocolate chip cookies or fluffy cupcakes shows that plant-based baking can still taste indulgent.

On top of that, they use organic, neighborhood-sourced ingredients. This helps create flavorful baked goods across their menu.

However, their strict vegan approach means there aren’t any dairy or egg-based pastries, which might not suit everyone.

Even so, it’s still a strong community bakery, though some visitors expecting traditional buttercream cakes might be surprised by the plant-based style.

Pros

  • Fully plant-based vegan kitchen
  • Organic locally sourced ingredients
  • Expansive menu of sweet treats
  • Highly community-focused operation

Cons

My favorite bakery

Pattycake has been my favorite bakery for a while now, so I was so excited to have them make my wedding cake! We got spice cake with whipped cream cheese frosting. We got some gluten-free cupcakes as well. Our cake was not only beautiful, but delicious! Multiple guests commented on how great the cake was. The ordering process was easy (Simona is so nice and responded to my emails in a timely manner) and the delivery option was super convenient.

We love this place

What an amazing bakery. My daughter brought in a drawing of the cake she wanted for her 6th birthday and they recreated it perfectly. Everyone was so impressed with how beautiful and delicious it was. We love this place and feel so lucky it is nearby!

5. Three Bites Bakery

Three Bites Bakery brings a fun mix of global flavors that can turn a simple snack break into something more exciting.

This downtown bakery offers a fusion of pastries, cookies, cakes, and even savory lunch items. You’ll also find ube, matcha, and imported cheeses used in creative ways that make the menu stand out.

Their selection also includes savory options like mini pizzettes and sandwiches, so there’s a nice balance between sweet treats and filling meals.

However, when it comes to custom cake orders, they have a clear rule: they do not accept AI-generated design mockups and prefer real reference photos instead.

Still, the effort pays off with high-quality event desserts that feel unique and carefully made.

  • Unique Filipino-Italian fusion flavors
  • Excellent savory lunch options
  • Custom event dessert ordering
  • Exciting distinctive local ingredients
