And when we needed a wedding photographer in Columbus, we asked my gal friends for a referral. The problem was we had to deal with overpriced packages, limited photo options and styles, and generic portfolios—all so stressful!

Robb McCormick is one of the best wedding photographers in Columbus, with more than 15 years of experience (with over 600 weddings) in capturing clean and timeless images.
I especially like that his style focuses on dramatic light and intimate moments. This is because this photographer describes himself as a purist, using light meters and shooting in manual mode.
In our opinion, this company has some of the best black and white photos we’ve seen in the city! Not to mention, we believe it boasts many photos with twinkling lights worth checking out.
It also looks incredible to us that Robb has been a lead photographer for major organizations, such as The Ohio State University, COSI (Center of Science and Industry), Columbus Downtown Development, and CapCity Sports Media.
However, we feel its premium pricing might not suit all budgets. Also, keep in mind that there are only a few lower-cost packages here for small weddings.

Jessica Miller has been photographing weddings for over 17 years. We think this made her comfortable enough to expand her services to individuals, kids, seniors, maternity shoots, corporate events, and more.
Also, we reckon you’ll suit her services if you prefer a modern, bright, and lively mood for your special day. In our view, most of her photos look well-lit, colorful, and glowing. There are many outdoor photos too—perfect for destination weddings, we say.
Moreover, it’s amazing to us that she has already received tons of awards and publications, proving her strong skills.
The most notable for us is the Event Photography of the Year Award from the National Association for Catering & Events in both 2019 and 2020.
Nonetheless, her consistently bright and vibrant style makes us feel this might not suit weddings with a more cinematic or moodier feel.

Incredible Job
“Tessa did an incredible job on our family photo session! It was absolutely freezing, and I failed to tell her exactly how many kids I had. We showed up with four kids under six, one a newborn and also a 180 pound dog. She wasn’t even phased by any of this! Tessa was able to capture so many amazing moments, even with my kids screaming their heads off. If you are looking for a photographer, look no further. We have worked with seven different photographers, and she has completely blown them out of the water. There’s something about Forget Me Knot Photography in Columbus that just makes us appreciate authentic moments more. Carmen, the photographer, seems to be talented in making the simpler parts of a wedding stand out, in our opinion.
For example, she has top-notch photos on her portfolio that showcase wacky bridesmaids, a subtly emotional couple with their foreheads pressed, a bride running happily with her bouquet, and more.
And on her website, there are plenty of black-and-white and colored photos to take inspiration from. These showcase different vibes and backdrops (both simple and wild), which we reckon display her versatility.
Another thing we commend her on is her transparency with her fees. You can easily see her 3 packages online and their inclusions—even if they’re on the more expensive side.
At the very least, we like that there are many a la carte items you can add to make your album more special. This includes an engagement or boudoir (sensual photography) session, extra coverage hours, a second photographer, or a different art album size.
Do note that we advise early booking if you want to give this photographer a try, since it seems there’s a high demand for her usually.

Just a 20 to 25-minute drive from Columbus, Rosey Red Photography’s style can be worth exploring if you want a romantic, fairytale style on your wedding day.
Think documentary storytellers who can make your special day look like a cinematic film! In our opinion, their editing and color-grading can make any average destination look magical. For us, even some of their wedding videos look like an indie film.
And if you’re a bit old-fashioned, that works too! We appreciate that the wife-and-husband duo of photographers here can make your photos look like they were taken in the 90s.
In addition, we love the silhouette photos that can make your photo album even more dramatic if you prefer to add those too.
Plus, it’s also pretty transparent with its starting price online. The final price would still depend on your add-ons, of course.
Just note that this option has a smaller team than the others. We think this could mean limited availability during peak wedding months too.
