Plumbing problems always seem to show up at the worst possible time in homes. One minute everything’s fine, and the next you’re dealing with a leaking pipe, a clogged drain, or worst of all: no hot water.
I’ve had my own plumbing mishaps over the years. A small leak under the sink once turned into a full kitchen renovation I definitely wasn’t prepared for.
After a few frustrating calls and emergency fixes, I started paying closer attention to which plumbing companies people actually trust. I asked around and looked into real customer experiences to see who consistently delivers quality work without the stress.
With all that in mind, I put together this list of the best plumbers in Columbus. These are professionals who help you avoid surprise leaks and messy repairs.
How much do plumbers charge in Columbus?
Plumbers in Columbus typically charge $75-$200 per hour, depending on the job complexity and the urgency of the service. Some companies offer discounted prices for first-time customers, while others offer packages for long-time clients.

Operating Hours:

A dry, stable home often goes unnoticed—until something goes wrong. That’s where QBS Basement Solutions steps in. They focus on the parts of your home you don’t always see but rely on every day.
They are a local, family-owned company with over 25 years of experience. QBS handles everything from basement waterproofing and foundation repair to crawl space encapsulation.
What stands out is how comprehensive their approach feels, pairing inspections with long-term solutions. These include sump pumps and battery backup systems.
Prices start at around $399, which seems really reasonable for the added protection.
They offer free inspections and estimates, along with financing options, making larger projects feel more manageable. Lifetime transferable warranties also add peace of mind, especially for homeowners thinking long-term.
Recognition from Angi reflects their consistency in service. And their trained installation teams help ensure quality work.
That said, since they are a crowd favorite, I wasn’t able to secure a schedule right away. For those on a strict timeline, this company may not be for you.
QBS came in lower than the other quotes that I had
“We were very pleased with Quality Basement Solutions. They did some drainage work for us. I found them in one of the advertising magazines and called.
I worked with Chris and Alex. They answered every question I had in a timely manner and the work was done quickly – we didn’t have to wait weeks. We also added added an additional an additional task and it was no big deal.
Price – that’s always a consideration. QBS came in lower than other quotes that I had. They were more than fair with the additional work.
We would use Quality Basement Solutions again for any future needs.”

Life-changing experience
“Extremely grateful to Quality Basement Solutions for helping us out with a difficult situation. Our lender gave a last-minute requirement for foundation repairs and grading to be made before finalizing purchase of a home. Chris with Quality Basement went above and beyond to ensure he could get us on the schedule as soon as possible. He provided excellent communication and support while we worked with the sellers to resolve. Thank you to Quality Basement for what has truly been a life-changing experience. We feel good about moving into the home knowing our foundation is secured!”

2. The Waterworks

Address: 550 Schrock Rd, OH 43229
Contact: +1 614 490 2149
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours
With nearly four decades in the industry, The Waterworks has built a reputation as a one-stop solution for plumbing, drains, and HVAC systems.
Their scope is broad. They serve not just homeowners, but also businesses like restaurants, hospitals, and office buildings. That kind of range often points to a team that can handle both everyday issues and more complex system needs.
What I appreciate most is their accessibility. They offer 24/7 emergency service, which can make all the difference when something unexpected happens.
Their technicians are licensed, insured, and trained. They also emphasize upfront pricing along with financing options to keep things transparent.
The Waterworks even offers small perks like $25 off plumbing services, which is a nice bonus.
However, I did come across concerns about pricing clarity. In one case, a quoted “free” inspection led to unexpected charges. You would need to clarify prices beforehand to avoid such issues.
Inspection passed with no issues
“I am opening an ice cream shop in Johnstown, Ohio. After several quotes, I decided to go with The Waterworks as I was confident they would be able to pull permits and get the work done as planned.
They were AMAZING!!! I had Mike leading the team of Griffin and Nick. I was informed of everything they had to do and just as planned, they completed on time. Inspection PASSED with no issues.
I highly recommend these guys and thanks to them, I can now open as scheduled.
Great job, Waterworks. I will be sure to pass your information along and personally hang on to it for anything I need done in the future.”

Very impressive
“Are you looking for and needing a plumber right now or within the next few hours? Is your problem so stressful that you can’t wait until tomorrow?
Well – we have found our plumber at The Waterworks of Columbus Ohio. Our technician Josh was a certified plumber who certainly knew his skill. He helped solve our plumbing problems in a timely fashion, reported what he fixed in a clear, concise manner, and gave us a reasonable quote to boot. And he even wasn’t afraid to challenge the words of an inspector who cited we had problems in our home. Very impressive.
So call Josh and consider him “your plumber”, calling him again and again and referring him to all your friends. Do yourself a huge favor. Call The Waterworks today.”

3. Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Address: 4480 Bridgeway Ave STE B, OH 43219
Contact: +1 614 351 5181
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours
There’s a certain level of ease that comes with working with a company as established as Roto-Rooter.
Their scale alone means they have built a system designed for accessibility. Roto-Rooter serves roughly 90% of the U.S. through hundreds of branches and franchises.
That national reach often translates to consistency. Whether it’s a clogged drain or a more urgent plumbing issue, the process feels structured and predictable. At the same time, that scale can make the experience feel a bit less personal compared to smaller, locally run businesses.
The firm offers free estimates with no trip charge, which makes it easier to explore your options without immediate commitment.
Their mobile application also adds convenience, letting you schedule services and access discounts without much back-and-forth.
But pricing is another consideration. Some clients mention that even minor services can lean on the higher side.
Everything looks great and works perfectly
“Travis did a great job. He arrived well within the time frame, he diagnosed the problem, and then gave a clear explanation of how to fix it. He was very upfront about the pricing and what needed to be done. He was personable, approachable, and easy to work with. Very friendly and caring. I appreciate his expertise and hard work. After he finished with the emergency in the bathroom, he installed a new kitchen sink. The job took all day and involved back-up help and several trips to Home Depot. Travis stuck with it and worked hard. Everything looks great and works perfectly. Thank you, Travis.
Price assessment: Great price

They came out quickly and resolved our issue professionally
“Brad did an exceptional job. Very quick and courteous. He solved the problem right away and then took the time to make sure the issue would not return. He even cleaned up the mess I had made before he got there. Definitely not the cheapest, but they came out quickly and resolved our issue professionally.”

4. Fritz Baumann & Sons, Inc. – Plumbing Contractors

Address: 1540 E Gates St, OH 43206
Contact: +1 614 444 5522
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Longevity often says a lot. Fritz Baumann & Sons Plumbing has been part of the Central Ohio community since 1939—spanning four generations of the same family.
That kind of continuity shows in the range of services they offer: everyday plumbing repairs and drain cleaning to more specialized work (gas piping and high-end remodels).
They also handle essentials like water heaters, sump pumps, and even garbage disposals. This makes them a reliable all-around option.
There’s a sense of craftsmanship that comes with a business this established, especially one that’s remained family-operated over the years.
Their experience makes them a strong choice for homeowners looking for dependable, long-term solutions rather than quick fixes.
However, because of their steady demand, booking inspections can sometimes take longer than expected. Therefore, a bit of planning ahead may be necessary.
Very reasonably priced compared to the other quotes I received
“Fritz Baumann & Sons replaced my water service line after I found a leak in the old line.
They were quick, professional, and very reasonably priced compared to the other quotes I received from larger companies.
Brett came out and gave a quote quickly and was very transparent about the potential issues/costs that could pop up during the repair.
They were able to complete the work in one day and communicated with me the entire time.
I will definitely be calling them if I ever need similar services again!

Their price was very reasonable
“We needed some copper water lines and a drain line moved for a kitchen remodel. From the beginning Brett was very accommodating and responsive. Their price was very reasonable and they worked us into their schedule quickly so they didn’t hold up our project. The work uncovered a couple of other age related problems that they came back and addressed quickly as well. We are very satisfied with the whole experience: quality of work, responsiveness, and price and would gladly recommend them to anyone. These guys are definitely our new plumbers for any future projects.”

5. The Local Plumber

Address: 461 Industry Dr, OH 43204
Contact: +1 614 230 6086
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Some companies focus on scale, while others lean into a more personal, neighborly approach—and that’s the impression The Local Plumber gives.
Founded in 2022 by Trevor Randall, the company feels intentionally small and hands-on. With a background in plumbing and a clear connection to the local community, Trevor built the business around reliability and straightforward service.
They cover a wide range of needs. These include small issues like dripping faucets to larger jobs involving water lines, gas lines, and water heaters. Free estimates also make it easy to get started without pressure.
What stands out is the tone of their service. It feels less transactional and more like working with someone who genuinely wants to keep your home running smoothly.
But because they are a smaller team, their replies to inquiries tend to be slower. This is especially felt during busier periods when demand picks up.
No excuses, just ownership and a commitment to getting it right
“Had The Local Plumber install an owner-furnished Rinnai tankless water heater — tank-to-tankless conversion with new venting, gas line work, and condensate drain. Travis came out for the estimate and was thorough and honest about what the job would involve. The crew completed the install in a day.
After the install, I noticed a few things that needed correction based on the manufacturer’s specifications. Shamus, their production manager, had independently caught one of the issues as well. They came back, addressed everything, and the job passed Franklin County inspection with no issues.
What impressed me most was how they handled the callbacks — no pushback, no excuses, just ownership and a commitment to getting it right. That tells you more about a company than a perfect install does. I’d hire them again.

Excellent customer service, workmanship, and everything really
“Excellent customer service, workmanship and everything really! Travis and Daniel were incredibly knowledgeable and walked us through each step of the work we had done to replace our main water valve. They even left the area cleaner than they found it — impressive! Will definitely be a return customer.”
