We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Accurate and Reliable Workmanship: I prioritized companies known for precise measurements and dependable results for both residential and commercial properties.

Range of Surveying Services: I selected firms that offer multiple services such as boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking, among others.

Modern Equipment and Technology: I looked for companies that use updated surveying tools and GPS technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Transparent Communication and Pricing: I focused on businesses that clearly explain the surveying process and timelines before work begins.

Strong Reputation and Client Feedback: I considered customer reviews and the overall reputation for quality service.

Property disputes, inaccurate boundary lines, and unexpected construction delays can all happen without a proper land survey. Whether you’re buying land or planning a development project, small measurement errors can create costly problems later on.

That’s why choosing a reliable land surveying company is so important. A skilled team helps confirm property boundaries, supports permit approvals, and keeps projects moving smoothly from the start.

To help narrow down your options, I have gathered the top land surveying companies in Columbus. They are known for their accuracy, modern equipment, and strong customer service.

How much do land surveying services cost in Columbus?

On average, land surveying services in Columbus cost between $400 and $3,000+, depending on the property size, terrain, survey type, and project complexity. Basic residential boundary surveys are usually more affordable, while ALTA surveys, commercial projects, and large parcels typically cost more.

Benchmark Land Surveying keeps things practical and efficient without overcomplicating everything.

From what I found, they serve all of Central and Southern Ohio and bring more than 60 years of combined experience to the table. They definitely give clients confidence when dealing with property boundaries and legal descriptions.

I also noticed several people mentioning how easy it is to communicate with the team. One reviewer said they were originally quoted a 13–15 day turnaround, but the survey was actually completed in just 9 days, which is faster than I expected.

Benchmark handles everything from lot splits and easements to ALTA surveys, site plans, and house staking.

The use of modern surveying tools also shows that they take accuracy seriously. To make things easier, they use heavy equipment rentals if dense lands need clearing.

The main drawback is pricing. Several clients mentioned that the services are more expensive compared to other surveyors in the area.

Pros

  • 60+ years of combined experience
  • Fast turnaround times
  • Easy scheduling and communication

Cons

  • Higher pricing than some competitors

They know what they are doing

Great company! We had a survey of our property on 1/29/2020.  They offered 2 options, we choice the one that included everything (option 2). Jeremy was the surveyor and he was great to work with, he was right on time, very thorough and was happy to answer any questions we had.  We scheduled everything via email and it was so easy, Barb who answers the emails is very prompt about getting back with you.  We called about six other surveying companies and chose Benchmark for many reasons, so glad we did!!

Fair price, friendly and they know what they are doing, what more could you ask for.  I highly recommend Benchmark!

Ed & Jenay”

They were professional and did everything I could hope for

“Bill and team were wonderful. From first contact, they provided a detailed cost and time estimate. Due to high demand, I had to wait about 4 weeks. During this time they kept me informed, which was nice. On the day of the service, they were professional and did everything I could hope for. While my property is in the city, it is a very complex piece of land. On the first day they had to stop early in order to do additional computer mapping back at the office. Two days later they returned and finished the work very quickly. Everything came out great. They even added a couple extra line markings to make my fence project easier. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Positive: Responsiveness, Quality, Professionalism”

Pro Boundary feels very community-oriented despite handling highly technical surveying work. Since they’re family-owned, the company has a more personal feel compared to larger firms.

They have been operating since 2005, so that’s around 21 years in the industry. Owner Timothy P. Stadt is also heavily involved in both surveying and the local professional community.

He’s licensed in both Ohio and Michigan and is affiliated with organizations like the Ohio Society of Professional Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

Their services cover a pretty broad range, too. They offer topographic surveys, utility staking, and aerial control. Additionally, they have construction layout work and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.

What stood out to me most is how established they are within the industry. Between their long-term reputation and specialized services, they clearly handle more than just simple residential boundary work.

The only issue is availability. Because they’re apparently in high demand, some customers mentioned waiting days or even weeks to secure a scheduling spot.

Pros

  • A family-owned company
  • Around 21 years of experience
  • Strong professional affiliations

Cons

  • Scheduling can take days to weeks

I am so fortunate to have found Pro Boundary

Tim Stadt surveyed our property, staked the corners and other important points relative to the house. He also provided a detailed survey drawing. We installed a backyard fence and his survey became very helpful to mitigate some concerns by a neighbor that we’ve been friends for a long time.  Tim spent time with me and my neighbor to discuss our neighbor’s concern about the property line. His knowledge, explanations and caring communication with us helped to resolve all concerns my neighbor had. I am very appreciative of Tom and his additional help after the survey. I am so fortunate to have found Pro Boundary. Thanks for your service!”

Super pleased with the work and speed

“This guy is FAST!!!  I needed a survey done ASAP for a REI transaction and he came through for me.  I did pay for the expedited service, but it was well worth it, AND reasonable.  I highly recommend Tim and his crew.  I called a bunch of his competitors and he was, apparently, the only one in the are that uses QuickBooks and was able to get me a quote super fast!  The invoice was clean and professional.  I was able to download it and have it for my records.  My only ASK of him would’ve been to be able to make payment via CC so I could get the cash-back rewards, but as a business man I understand him not wanting to take a hit w/ the CC fees.  All-in-all, super pleased w/ the work and speed.  Thanks again Tim.”

3. E.P. Ferris and Associates

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday to Sunday: Closed

E.P. Ferris & Associates is a large-scale engineering and infrastructure firm that also happens to excel in land surveying.

If someone needs highly technical or commercial-level survey work, this company honestly looks very well-equipped for it. The firm has been around since 1987 and has built a strong reputation in public infrastructure, redevelopment, and renewable energy projects.

President Matthew E. Ferris also brings over 25 years of experience managing complex engineering and surveying initiatives, and it definitely shows in the company’s capabilities.

They use Trimble robotic total stations, advanced GPS systems, and LiDAR-equipped DJI drones. The company also uses professional-grade data collections for precision and efficiency.

Their affiliations with the Urban Land Institute and Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio also help reinforce credibility.

However, residential homeowners should know that E.P. Ferris mainly focuses on commercial, municipal, and infrastructure-related work rather than residential property surveys.

Pros

  • Uses advanced surveying technology
  • Strong engineering and infrastructure background
  • Over 35 years in business

Cons

  • Does not offer residential surveys

The front desk agent was very helpful

Front desk agent was very helpful, but please note that this company does not work residential land surveys, regardless of what Google search results say.

The receptionist I spoke with was kind enough to refer me to three actual residential land surveyors, which is certainly going above and beyond.”

A first-rate client experience every time

“EP Ferris & Associates is a family owned business that truly puts the customer first. Matt Ferris and his team are diligent, knowledgeable, and timely. A first rate client experience every time.”

4. Myers Surveying

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday to Sunday: Closed

Myers Surveying has the kind of history that’s hard to ignore. They have been serving Central Ohio for more than 72 years. Honestly, they are deeply tied to the region’s development and surveying standards.

I found it particularly interesting that Myers Surveying helped influence Ohio laws regarding surveying education requirements and boundary survey regulations.

That’s not something you hear about often from local surveying firms, and it says a lot about their long-term involvement in the profession.

Their portfolio is impressive too. Major projects like the Nationwide Insurance Complex and the State Office Tower are part of their history. This helps reinforce their credibility on larger-scale projects.

Another reassuring detail is that their full-time crews are supervised by licensed surveyors, averaging around 20 years of professional experience.

The biggest frustration involves communication. Several clients mentioned that email responses can be slow, and making phone calls or in-person visits is a better option.

Pros

  • Over 72 years of experience
  • Historically influential in Ohio surveying standards
  • Licensed and experienced surveying crews

Cons

  • Slow email replies

Mr. Myers was very helpful and honest

Mr. Meyers was very helpful and honest when discussing my situation in Madison county. It is nice to see when people still want to help even when your situation is smaller than what they usually deal with, I would recommend them.”

They were professional, competent and reasonably priced

“Myers did the survey for the purchase of my house. Not a lot to say. They were professional, competent and reasonably priced.”

5. Landmark Survey Group

Address: 690 Lakeview Plaza Blvd A, OH 43085

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday: Closed

Compared to firms that focus heavily on engineering work, Landmark Survey is much more connected to day-to-day home surveys and builder support.

They have been handling land surveying work for more than 25 years and expanded further after merging with Exacta Land Surveyors in 2019. That merger apparently helped increase resources and improve turnaround capacity throughout the state.

Also, the company assists with real estate closing surveys, residential and commercial property surveys, and ongoing support for home builders during construction projects.

Professional affiliations with the Mortgage Bankers Association and the National Association of Home Builders are a plus. These help reinforce their strong ties to the real estate industry as well.

Another positive is their workplace culture recognition from 2023 through 2025, which usually reflects well on overall company management.

The main downside seems to be communication consistency. Some clients mentioned delays caused by slow updates or unclear coordination.

Pros

  • Over 25 years of experience
  • Supports builders and real estate transactions
  • Well-connected within the housing industry

Cons

  • Communication delays

Landmark had the most informative and best customer service I’ve encountered

We haven’t had the actual survey done, but I’ve spent the last couple days calling around to get information on a boundary survey, and hands down Landmark had the most informative and best customer service I’ve encountered. Looking forward to working with them!”

Most reliable and capable survey group I have used

“Hands down, most reliable and capable Survey group I have used, and there have been a few!”
