As someone close to her mom, I make it a point to enjoy many outdoor activities with her while she’s still strong. Though I know it will eventually happen, I just couldn’t wrap my head around waking up one day with her needing a caregiver.
However, a friend of mine didn’t have to imagine. Unfortunately, her aging mother started to become more forgetful and needed more assistance with meals and medication.
I felt bad for my friend and reassured her that she wouldn’t be alone in this. Together, we sought the best home health care services in Columbus to lessen her burden. If you are in the same situation, here’s a list of those we considered.
How much do home health care services cost in Columbus?
Home health care services in Columbus typically cost between $25 and $40 per hour. The cost varies depending on the location, care level (basic help or skilled nursing), frequency, and extra services.
1. Right at Home

Address: 8828 Commerce Loop Dr
Contact Details:

Business Hours:
- Open 24 hours
Right at Home specializes in personalized in-home care, matching caregivers to clients’ specific needs. They were founded by Allen Hager in 1995 after he saw hospital patients struggle at home.
At present, the team runs over 700 franchise locations worldwide. The Columbus office is well recognized, having been in operation for about 7 years.
Unlike other basic staffing services, we appreciate that these carers receive thorough screening, training, bonding, and insurance before entering homes.
Due to their dedication, they won the Caring Stars Awards from Caring.com (a leading resource for senior living) from 2019 to 2025 for client satisfaction.
We love that the staff can provide 24/7 support as well. But if you need other types of care, it’s also handy that they offer hourly, live-in, overnight, and memory care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
The hourly rates for these average $28 to $30. This aligns quite well with the city’s standard home care costs, so we find it reasonable.
However, someone we interviewed mentioned that there’s a pretty high staff turnover here. The way we see it, this can disrupt services for long-term clients and cause scheduling gaps and delays.
Gone above and beyond to assist my mom and me
“We recently contacted Right at Home for help with my aging mother in her independent living setting. At this point, we only needed minimal assistance. Julie came out right away and assessed the situation. She and the caregiver have gone above and beyond to assist not only my mom, but myself as well. I highly recommend Right at Home.”

The caregivers are very capable of preforming their duties. We highly recommend this company to our families and friends. Thank you, Right at Home! Ron & Bonnie Conley”

Business Hours:
- Open 24 hours
Perfect PIK Homecare delivers nurse-led, non-medical in-home care, focusing on personalized plans for seniors and recovering adults.
This small, locally owned agency was established in 2021. Though relatively new, we still find them reputable since the founder is a registered nurse with over 10 years of medical experience.
We reckon this background ensures tailored care rather than generic staffing. She also showcases her strength in providing condition-specific support and caregiver training.
The team’s core services are already comprehensive. This already involves bathing, meal prep, light housework, mobility help, medication reminders, and more.
Though no public rates are listed, home care services of their size typically charge $25 to $32 per hour in the city. We think their flexible scheduling makes this worthwhile.
Still, their limited scale is a disadvantage when demand is high. During times like flu season or post-holiday surges, they struggle to quickly line up enough caregivers.
Highly recommended for reliable and compassionate home care
“The team is not only skilled but also genuinely cares about the well-being of their clients. Consistently showing their dedication to making a positive impact, I trust them wholeheartedly. They go above and beyond to ensure comfort and safety, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those they care for. I highly recommend Perfect PIK Homecare to anyone in need of reliable and compassionate home care! Thank you, Perfect PIK, for everything you do! It has been a pleasure watching you grow.”

3. Visiting Angels

Address: 41 Croswell Rd, 2nd FL

Business Hours:

Visiting Angels is skilled in providing affordable, customized non-medical home care. Basically, they match carers to client personalities for companionship and 24/7 support.
We believe this option is highly reputable, as this family-owned company has served Columbus for more than 21 years. They have also earned Home Care Pulse awards like Leader in Excellence from 2021 to 2024.
Backing this up is a big team that you can rely on across Columbus’s west suburbs. People we talked to also commended their punctuality and quick caregiver replacements when needed.
As for costs, their hourly rates range from $21 to $30, which is pretty standard for home care services in the city. Plus, we find the personalized matching here valuable. There are no weekend upcharges.
Just remember that their shift minimum is usually 4 hours per visit. This restricts options for clients who need only 1 to 2 hours of help for their loved one.
My caregiver has done a wonderful job for me
“My care giver is Kiya. She has done a wonderful job for me. She has made sure that I go to the doctor and take care of myself. She even arranged Uber Uber for me to go to an eye specialist. She’s a delightful young lady. I enjoy our conversations.”

4. Home Helpers

Business Hours:
- Open 24 hours
Founded nationally in 1997 (and locally in 2018), Home Helpers is recognized for its custom, non-medical home care. This includes client companionship, daily living assistance, and recovery support.
For us, the team shines through its Cared-4 program, which tracks physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellness. They also offer free in-home assessments.
Apart from care and companionship, the staff provides meal preparation and specialized support for various medical needs, such as dementia care and stroke recovery.
Their hourly rates are also within the city range, costing around $25 to $30. Those we had a chat with appreciate the flexible scheduling and scheduled check-in calls, which made these rates worth their while.
Yet, a drawback for us is the staff’s occasional slower responses during peak times. We feel this should be improved, especially when clients need urgent updates.

Very caring, professional, and trustworthy
“We were so pleased with the care our family member received from Home Helpers. The caregivers were very caring, professional, and trustworthy. Jason and his team were excellent with communication and clarity of roles for the caregivers. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and thank the Home Helpers team for their support when we needed it most.”

5. Caring Heart Home Health Agency

Business Hours:

- Fri: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
- Sat-Sun: Closed
What sets Caring Heart Home Health Agency apart is that they combine skilled nursing with non-medical home care. They offer retirees, disabled adults, and others the best of both worlds.
They are a Medicare/Medicaid-certified spot founded in 2003, born of co-founder Cecelia Goodrige’s vision for dignity-focused service. This recognition means that they strictly adhere to federal standards for quality, safety, and oversight.
We also love their Patient-Driven Care Program, which lets family members or friends be hired and paid as caregivers. This applies to those on Medicaid, which covers 100% of costs in many cases (with eligibility rules).
Plus, it’s incredible to us that they bill Medicaid $13.4M annually for 245,000 visits. In our view, this makes them stronger in insurance-covered skilled care than other purely private-pay competitors.
Of course, if eligible, you don’t have to pay much (or at all). Otherwise, you will likely pay $25 to $32 per hour, as per the standard for Columbus rates.
Still, their heavy reliance on Medicaid volume can sometimes lead to longer wait times for non-urgent private-pay requests.
Wonderful, amazing, and understanding
“Melissa is wonderful. She helped me in so many ways. Educated me on how to help my family. Brittany was amazing every time I called. She remember me and that made me feel good.
