The 5 Best Gyms in Columbus for Every Fitness Level

gyms-in-columbus
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Equipment Variety and Quality: We looked at the range of machines and free weights available at each location to ensure they support different training styles. This helps confirm that whether you want to lift heavy or do cardio, the gear is up to the task and well-maintained.

Atmosphere and Community: The vibe of a facility is huge because it determines how comfortable you feel during a workout. We prioritized places that foster a supportive environment rather than an intimidating or overly corporate feel.

Operating Hours and Accessibility: Since everyone has a different schedule, we checked for flexible hours and convenient locations within the city. Features such as 24/7 access and included parking were major points in our evaluation.

Value for Money: We weighed the monthly cost against the amenities provided, such as saunas, showers, and group classes. This ensures that you are getting a fair deal for the specific services you need most.

Scouting for the best gym in Columbus often feels like a workout itself. With the city expanding, new boutique studios and big-box centers are constantly popping up near our go-to tattoo studios and beauty salons

If you’re a powerlifter seeking heavy iron or a beginner wanting a judgment-free zone, the right environment is vital.

Luckily, I’ve spent months exploring local facilities to find spots that offer more than just a treadmill and a monthly bill.

After visiting everything from hardcore lifting pits to high-end athletic clubs, I’ve finally narrowed down the top contenders that actually live up to the hype. Read on to know my picks!

How much do gym memberships cost in Columbus?

In Columbus, gym memberships generally cost between $10 and $25 per month for basic budget gyms, $30 to $60 for mid-tier standard clubs, and $65 to over $100 for premium, specialized fitness studios.

The total fees also depend on how many extras you want included in your plan.

Membership TypeEstimated Monthly Cost
Budget/Basic Gyms$10 – $25
Mid-Tier/Standard Clubs$30 – $60
Premium/Specialized Studios$65 – $100+

1. Pro’s Fitness Club

pro-s-fitness-club

Website: https://prosgymcolumbus.com/

Address: 9 E Long St, Columbus

Contact: (614) 228-8866

Hours: 24/7 access for members; Staffed hours M-F 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Sat-Sun 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

If you’re serious about strength training, Pro’s Fitness Club is basically the holy grail for bodybuilding and powerlifting.

They have a massive “train like a pro” culture that welcomes everyone from professional athletes to local influencers, but it never feels exclusive.

And with their 24/7 key fob access, it’s super convenient if you have an unpredictable work schedule or just prefer a late-night session.

I love how they recently remodeled the space, added new cardio flooring, and upgraded the equipment. Everything feels fresh despite their long-standing history in the city.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that their membership agreements can be a bit rigid. I noticed some folks mentioned being surprised by termination fees when trying to cancel early, so you must read the fine print before signing.

Also, if you run into a billing issue, it can sometimes take a bit of back-and-forth with management to resolve it. Still, for a hardcore lifting environment with downtown parking, this gym is a solid choice.

Pros

  • 24/7 member access
  • Strong bodybuilding focus
  • Recently upgraded equipment
  • Free downtown parking

Cons

  • Potential early termination fees
  • Strict contract terms
  • Billing disputes reported

Wouldn’t want to lift anywhere else

Best gym I have ever been to as a young bodybuilder during the week of the Arnold. Can’t believe how awesome this place and the hospitality from the staff was incredible. Wouldn’t want to lift anywhere else

a great amount of equipment for almost anything you need

The Pro Gym is just that. Great spot retrofitted from a bank to a gym. They have a great amount of equipment for almost anything you need. The crowd in their had good vibes, and the staff were great to interact with. The gym offers an online day pass, which gives you access after hours, which is huge. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

2. The Warehouse Gym & Fitness Personal Training

the-warehouse-gym-fitness-personal-training

Website: https://www.thewarehousegymcolumbus.com/

Address: 1110 Chambers Rd

Contact: 614-570-9700

Hours: 24/7 keycard access

The Warehouse Gym is perfect for anyone who hates the “meat market” vibe of giant commercial chains. They cap their membership at just 50 people, which means you almost never have to wait or feel like someone is breathing down your neck.

They also have some really cool perks like an infrared sauna and off-street parking, which are rare for a smaller boutique spot.

It also feels more like a private club where the trainers actually know your name and goals. I actually spoke to a long-time member here who told me the “no politics, no BS” rule is strictly followed, making it a very low-stress place to train.

Coaching is top-tier here, too. The trainers hold certifications from major organizations such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

However, note that their refund policy is notoriously strict, even in the event of a personal emergency. This might make some people feel a little uneasy about committing to a long-term plan.

Pros

  • Strict 50-member cap
  • 24/7 private access
  • Includes infrared sauna
  • Highly certified trainers

Cons

  • No refunds on prepayments
  • Rigid contract enforcement
  • Smaller overall footprint

workout without the stress

My favorite place to workout without the stress of waiting for a machine or being watched by millions how I do leg presses! This is a hassle-free gym with 24hr access and amazing recovery red light therapy-probably my fav.  Highly Recommend with 5+stars

everyone has welcomed me with open arms

Environment is everything. James is a great owner who takes his time to meet and greet everyone that enters his gym. I started here not too long ago, and everyone has welcomed me with open arms. If you are a coach/ trainer, I highly suggest looking to rent space here at The Warehouse Gym.

3. TRAIN. FITNESS HOUSE 24/7.

train-fitness-house-24-7

Website: https://www.trainbodies.com/

Address: 4516 Kenny Rd B

Contact: (844) 351-1594

Hours: 24/7 for members

TRAIN. Fitness House is much more than a standard gym; it’s more like a full-blown wellness hub.

They integrate things like red light therapy, nutrition guidance, and even concierge healthcare into their memberships. It’s a game-changer if you’re focused on recovery!

The best part for most people is the 24/7 access, with no cancellation fees and only 30 days’ notice. It’s also rarely overcrowded, so you can usually breeze through your workout without any equipment bottlenecks.

On the flip side, if you’re a heavy free-weight enthusiast, you might find the selection a bit lacking. They only have one squat rack and one Smith machine, as they tend to focus more on machines and wellness services.

I also heard from a few members that the facility can get a little warm during the humid Ohio summers, and the lack of full locker rooms is a bit of a bummer. But for the price point and the wellness perks, it’s hard to beat the value.

Pros

  • No cancellation fees
  • Red light therapy included
  • Affordable boutique pricing
  • Rarely overcrowded

Cons

  • Only one squat rack
  • No full locker rooms
  • Summer cooling issues

Felt like working out in my own personal gym

Amazing facility in great location with seamless business model! Felt like working out in my own personal gym. Visited Columbus by way of Long Beach CA and wanted to get in that pump in 💪🏽 got a guest membership and access to the space within the first few hours of my arrival. I appreciate this place and will use the facilities again

4. Arena District Athletic Club

arena-district-athletic-club

Website: https://www.arenaathletic.com/

Address: 325 John H. McConnell Blvd, Suite 150

Contact: 614-461-7785

Hours: M-Th 5:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Fri 5:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Sat 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Sun 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

If you work downtown, the Arena District Athletic Club is easily the most convenient and “grown-up” option on this list. It feels like a premium club with upscale changing rooms, towel service, and even HydroMassage beds included in the standard membership.

I dropped in for a session recently and was blown away that they offer complimentary parking in the downtown garages. They also have a great “Welcome to Wellness” program that pairs you with a coach to help you get started without feeling lost.

However, if you’re a night owl or a weekend warrior, the hours here might frustrate you. They close quite early on the weekends, which is a bit of a letdown.

Some members also feel the price is a bit high compared to the actual amount of equipment on the floor. While the staff is professional, the vibe is definitely more corporate and less “gym family” than some of the other spots in town.

Pros

  • Free downtown parking
  • Included HydroMassage
  • High-end towel service
  • Central Arena District location

Cons

  • Higher price point
  • Fewer group classes

Have loved going to this gym for several years

Have loved going to this gym for several years now. The atmosphere is not stuffy, the facilities are clean, and the amenities are great! Especially love the FitCAMP class that is done there with Bill. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful.

Clean, well-maintained, and very friendly

Great facilities at this location – both the workout room and the locker room were top notch!  Clean, well-maintained, and very friendly staff! Workout equipment is new and in very good shape.

The staff here allowed my company to use their gym while we were in town at the Ohio Theatre – I will definitely recommend this location any time I am back in Columbus!

Thank you for the amazing experience!

5. Life Time

life-time

Website: https://www.lifetime.life/locations/oh/easton.html

Address: 3900 Easton Station

Contact: 614-470-9130

Hours: M-Th 4:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Fri 4:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Sat-Sun 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Life Time at Easton is less of a gym and more of a luxury resort that happens to have weights.

It’s the kind of place where you could spend an entire Saturday because they have everything from eucalyptus steam rooms and indoor pools to a full cafe and tennis courts.

The fitness floor is absolutely massive, with dedicated zones for functional training and cardio, so you never feel cramped.

Plus, the sheer variety of group classes, ranging from yoga to high-intensity cycling, is probably the best in the city for keeping things interesting.

But all that luxury comes with a hefty price tag that seems to keep climbing. Many long-term members have noted that as rates rise, some services and maintenance levels have occasionally dipped.

You might run into a broken sauna or a crowded pool area during peak family hours, which can be annoying when you are paying premium prices.

It’s definitely a lifestyle investment here, so it’s only worth it if you plan to use the amenities regularly.

Pros

  • Resort-style amenities
  • Multiple indoor pools
  • Huge variety of classes
  • Eucalyptus steam rooms

Cons

  • Expensive monthly rates
  • Frequent price increases
  • Peak-hour crowding
  • Maintenance lag reported

we have the best coach

I have been going to Life Time for few years. I have closer gyms around but I stayed there because there is no other gym that has great classes like Life Time does. Specially the Signature membership classes they have great trainers. Me and my friends agree we have the best coach there Joey Ensley he always focus on our form also if we can not do a workout because of an injury he makes sure to adjust the workout for us. GTX is fun and also a hard class with the best trainer.

more than just a gym

Top notch facilities, always clean, more than enough variety of work out equipment and weights. Ive worked out at lifetime 5 days a week since 2019. Great staff members that make lifetime easton more than just a gym. Starting off  with Paolo at the front desk he is the man! Melissa is a trainer always working hard and gives out great advice. Durrell always making sure the locker rooms are tight and you have what you need. A bunch of other great trainers and members that are always willing to talk about fitness and life and give encouraging words.
