To help you act quickly when it matters most, we evaluated local HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) providers in Columbus so you can make an informed choice and restore your heat without delay.

1. Dor-Mar Columbus Heating And Air

Website: https://dormarhvac.com/columbus-oh/
Address: 20 South 3rd St, #210 Columbus, OH 43215
Contact: (614) 960-1343
Hours: 24/7 emergency
Dor-Mar Columbus Heating And Air is a reassuring option when your heat suddenly goes out, especially because they offer 24/7 emergency HVAC service. They also offer guaranteed same-day appointments if you call before 3:30 PM.
That kind of responsiveness matters a lot during freezing weather when waiting even a few extra hours can become miserable.
We also like that they rely entirely on in-house certified technicians instead of subcontractors, since that usually creates a more consistent service experience.
A homeowner we spoke with recently used their emergency dispatch service and mentioned how quickly the technician arrived. The service truck was also well-stocked, which helped speed up the repair process.
Another strong point is their live-answer customer support, so you’re dealing with a real person instead of an automated system during emergencies.
The main drawback, though, is pricing transparency. Some customers have felt repair costs were higher than expected, so it’s smart to clarify estimates upfront before approving major work.
Came out quickly to help
Dor Mar, and Wes, the service technician, were great. Our furnace was acting flakey, and they came out quickly to help. They diagnosed the problem on the first visit and were able to narrow the cause to two parts that they were then able to acquire under the original manufacturer’s warrantee. They got the parts quickly and came out and efficiently implemented the repair. Furnace has been operating well since.

Arrived 2 hours earlier than estimated
I called Dor-Mar first thing this morning, after another company had come out and quoted us $600 to find and repair a gas leak that had left us without heat. The gentleman’s name was Rob, and he, thankfully, arrived 2 hours earlier than estimated. He found and fixed the leak very quickly. I bought the 1 year maintenance plan for $160, which covered today’s service call and a 1 yearly maintenance on my furnace, a/c, and hot water tank. It’s already paid for itself!
tl;dr: fast, professional, and affordable service !!

2. Sears Heating and Cooling

Website: https://www.searsheatingcooling.com/
Address: 3981 Cleveland Avenue Columbus, OH 43224
Contact: 614-475-1800
Hours: Available 24/7
Sears Heating and Cooling is a solid option for homeowners who want reassurance before committing to an expensive furnace replacement.
The free second opinion on major heating issues is one of their strongest features. It’s especially helpful when you’re facing something serious like a cracked heat exchanger and want to avoid being pushed into replacing the entire system too quickly.
What also stands out is their long local history. Operating since 1950, they’ve worked on a huge range of older and newer heating systems, which can be valuable for more complicated diagnostics.
We also like that they offer flexible repair and installation options for different budgets rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Their 24/7 emergency repair service is another major plus, particularly during winter breakdowns when timing matters most.
The main downside, though, is some inconsistency in service experience. A few customers have mentioned varying technician quality and occasional difficulty reaching support staff after the job is completed.
Made the install a smooth process
I appreciate everyone’s attention to detail and professional service. It’s never a convenient time for your furnace to stop working, but Sears made the install a smooth process. I am happy to be back with a locally owned company. My last HVAC company has transitioned to corporate ownership and the customer service had definitely declined. Happy to have found Sears.

Kind and very informative
Another local HVAC service had come out and tried to sell me expensive repairs and even recommended I replaced my furnace after a routine call. I reached out to Sears for a second opinion. Josh from Sears came out and inspected my furnace; he was kind and very informative. The team at Sears noted that there was no actual problem with my furnace and it just needed regular maintenance. In a world where finding someone to trust is seemingly impossible, Sears and Josh really came through for us. We will definitely use them again.

3. Hetter Heating & Cooling

Website: https://hetterheating.com/
Address: 4780 Kenny Rd, Columbus, OH 43220
Contact: (614) 756-6713
Hours: Mon – Sunday 6 am–10 pm
Hetter Heating & Cooling stands out to us for their focus on technical accuracy rather than rushing through estimates.
Offering free heat load calculations is a major advantage. Properly sizing a heating system for the layout of a home can make a huge difference in comfort and efficiency long-term.
We also like that they use North American Technician Excellence (NATE)-certified technicians for diagnostics and repairs, which gives more confidence that the work is being handled by people with strong technical training.
When I personally asked them about airflow balancing in my own property, I was impressed by how willing they were to answer questions in detail instead of pushing a quick fix.
Their attention to professionalism also comes through in smaller things, like using protective shoe covers and emphasizing long-term customer relationships.
The downside, though, is that some complicated airflow issues may take more than one visit to fully diagnose. Their recommendations can also sometimes lean toward more expensive solutions.
Came out fast and got the furnace working again
Dennis came out fast and got the furnace working again and a very fair quote on a new furnace. Our Home Warranty sent a different company out who both failed to repair the unit and then asked for 4x the Hetter quote for a new unit.
I have used Hetter for multiple home needs and they have always done a great job with fast service.

Able to repair the furnace in the same day
Highly recommend Hetter heating and cooling. James was very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. He was able to repair the furnace in the same day. So glad, I got a second opinion as another company told me it could be three weeks before he got the part. In this heat wave, Hetter was a great company and resolved our problem quickly!

4. Atlas Butler Heating, Cooling & Plumbing

Address: 4849 Evanswood Dr. Columbus, Ohio 43229
Contact: 1-800-FURNACE
Hours: Available 24/7
Atlas Butler Heating, Cooling & Plumbing is especially dependable for urgent heating emergencies, particularly during long winter outages.
Their biggest strength is the combination of a 24-hour repair guarantee, a large in-house parts inventory, and true 24/7 emergency availability. All of these help speed up repairs when time matters most.
We also like the predictability of their service model. The defined two-hour appointment window and lack of after-hours fees make stressful evening breakdowns feel a bit more manageable, since you’re not dealing with surprise charges just because the issue happened at night.
Another reassuring factor is their long local history and high reported repair success rate of 95%, which suggests they’ve handled a wide range of heating problems over the years.
That said, their recommendations can sometimes lean toward full system replacements instead of smaller repairs, especially compared to what other contractors may suggest.
Some homeowners have also felt the labor pricing was higher than expected for relatively routine work.
We are so happy with the service.
During a carpet installation our cat apparently fell into a furnace vent that was open while being worked on. After 2 days of searching he finally meowed and we found him stuck in the duct. We have been customers of Atlas Butler for years but, this experience was special. Finn Hartley our technician was able to get Jack the cat out in less than 30 minutes and repair the duct. He was in good shape but, hungry of course. We are so happy with the service. Thank you Finn and Atlas Butler!

Made educated suggestions
Adam Lechler was kind and efficient. He walked us through what needed to be repaired and updated on our furnace and air conditioner. He did not pressure us to do an expensive repair and made educated suggestions for future work that needed to be completed.

5. Columbus Worthington Air

Website: https://cwaohio.com/contact-us/
Address: 6363 Fiesta Drive, Columbus, OH 43235
Contact: 614-405-7819
Hours: Monday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Emergency service available)
Columbus Worthington Air’s biggest advantage is availability. Offering same-day service seven days a week, including nights and holidays, takes a lot of stress out of trying to find help during off-hours.
Their long local history also adds credibility. With more than 80 years in the area and a fleet of over forty service vehicles, they seem well-equipped to handle rapid dispatch across a large service region.
We also like that their technicians go through background checks and drug testing. That gives homeowners and property managers extra peace of mind when inviting workers into their property.
Another strong point is their upfront estimate policy, which helps set expectations before repairs begin.
The main downside, though, is billing consistency. Some customers have reported issues getting advertised promotions or discounts properly reflected on final invoices, so it’s worth reviewing charges carefully before payment.
Repair part delays can also occasionally stretch longer than expected.
I feel very satisfied
The tech rep Hamidou was very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous while assessing and repairing the problem with my furnace and should be considered a “must have” whenever someone should need a repair done for them. I feel very satisfied in knowing he will be keeping up the maintenance for my heating and air in the future.
