Many people look into holistic options like acupuncture or visit local mental health clinics to handle the stress of aging, but fixing your eyesight requires specialized medical care.
When your vision starts getting cloudy, doing everyday things like reading or driving around Ohio can feel incredibly frustrating. The right ophthalmologist ensures you get your clear vision back safely and comfortably.
If you or an older relative is ready to see clearly again, finding the best cataract surgery clinics in Columbus is the crucial first step toward getting that crisp, sharp vision back.
How much does cataract surgery cost in Columbus?
Budgeting for eye medical care depends on whether you have insurance coverage or choose to pay the cash rate directly.

Contact: (888) 627-1296
Hours: Monday – Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
If you want a dedicated medical facility that avoids the chaotic hustle of a general hospital, Columbus Eye Surgery Center offers an exceptional outpatient setup.
It stands out as Ohio’s first freestanding eye-only surgery center, providing an entirely hospital-free outpatient surgical experience since its founding in 1996.
The entire environment is tailored exclusively to advanced ophthalmic care, meaning every staff member is focused purely on vision health. They even coordinate closely with multiple regional ophthalmologists to make sure everything goes seamlessly.
When my uncle went here for his consultation, the nursing team gave him highly structured pre-operative support to clear up any confusion before the big day.
But you should prepare for potential delays on busier days, as some patients have reported experiencing long wait times of over an hour before seeing their specialist.
An excellent overall experience!
The Eye Center was an excellent overall experience! Cataract surgery on both eyes was completed. The staff, doctors and personnel made me feel comfortable, and at ease. I wholeheartedly recommend the center for anyone who requires eye surgery. The results are amazing!

Finding doctors with decades of proven expertise brings immense peace of mind when it comes to delicate vision procedures. Arena Eye Surgeons is a physician-owned and operated practice that has been serving the community since 1983.
They feature a highly skilled medical team with over 125 years of combined surgeon experience.
Their dedicated cataract specialists perform quick outpatient procedures that usually take just ten to twenty minutes, allowing patients to head home shortly afterward.
They also provide comprehensive eye treatments for related issues like glaucoma, making it easy to manage multiple conditions under one roof.
With offices in both Columbus and Delaware, scheduling routine checkups or follow-up appointments is highly convenient for families across Central Ohio.
On the downside, self-pay patients whose insurance plans are not in-network might face some administrative rigidity when trying to set up an initial consultation here.
I would recommend this place
I have been going to this OFC for almost 30YRS & i had my PRK done to correct my horrible vision & then cataract surgery in 2025 that was recently performed by DR Pappa who i see now due to DR Utrata being no longer there.
It’s a great group of professional DRS & staff & sometimes you may have a lil wait but you can’t rush a thorough visit regarding something as important as your eyesight nor health for that matter!
I hope you don’t retire anytime soon & yes I would recommend this place.:)

Address: 262 Neil Avenue, 4th Floor
Contact: (614) 221-7464
Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Central Ohio Eye and Plastic Surgery emphasizes safe, effective cataract surgery treatment. They provide thorough guidance to help patients understand their symptoms and disease progression well before any operation.
We like that because navigating age-related vision changes becomes much simpler when your medical provider prioritizes clear communication and patient education.
Their board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeons take a highly educational approach, giving family caregivers the exact information needed to support their loved ones confidently.
Beyond standard vision care, the team offers specialized reconstructive and eyelid surgery options to ensure comprehensive long-term eye health.
But the office routine does have a few administrative hurdles that can test your patience.
Several visitors have noted facing long wait times during appointments, alongside occasional phone communication delays and frustrating valet parking bottlenecks outside the building.
Professional, kind, and compassionate
My vision means so much to me! I’ve had glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery, and several routine visits. From the receptionist tot the assistants, and certainly the Doctors, everyone is professional, kind, and compassionate. I trust my vision care to this excellent team of professionals. Five stars are just not a high enough rating.

Happy to place my care into her hands
Megan Chambers MD is my Ophthalmologist.
She is excellent and I am scheduled for Cataract Surgery with her the end of April and first of May. She is an excellent clinician, patient caregiver, and has answered all my questions and concerns in a timely manner.
I am happy to place my care into her hands and feel very confident in her clinical expertise as well as her prompt answers to all of my questions and concerns. The office runs very smoothly and all of the peripheral staff are knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant.

If you’re looking for local recognition paired with high-volume surgical expertise, Columbus Laser & Cataract Center is a stellar option.
It operates as an award-winning refractive practice that was named the Best Cataract Surgery Practice by readers of The Columbus Dispatch.
Their medical team brings more than 50 years of combined surgical experience and has completed over 75,000 successful vision correction procedures.
When I spoke directly with a patient who chose their laser-assisted surgical option, they raved about the highly personalized treatment planning and flexible financing packages.
They really appreciate how the surgeons customize intraocular lens (IOL) selections to optimize visual outcomes rather than just removing the cloudy cataract.
However, a few patients have raised concerns regarding long-term outcomes, noting that their vision issues eventually returned or required additional post-operative follow-up care.
Did a great job with my cataract surgery
Great results! Dr. Beran did a great job with my cataract surgery, using a toric lens in one eye and an extended depth of focus lens in the other. I now have at least 20-20 vision in both eyes. The practice is very efficiently run and has great patient care. Also, their charges for premium lenses are significantly less than some other practices charge. Highly recommended.

5. Bloomberg Eye Center

Website: https://www.bloombergeye.com/
Address: 3600 Stelzer Rd
Contact: (888) 539-3937
Hours: Tuesday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Bloomberg Eye Center has been serving Central Ohio since 1970, focusing heavily on modern, small-incision cataract surgery that requires no stitches and supports rapid outpatient recovery.
Most procedures take less than ten minutes to perform in their specialized eye surgical center, allowing many individuals to see noticeable improvements within 24 hours.
The clinical team also offers comprehensive care for related conditions like glaucoma or retinal issues under one roof. Plus, I love their deep roots in the local community, which ensures you’re working with an established provider network.
But the front-desk coordination can occasionally feel rushed and disorganized, leading to notable scheduling headaches.
Some visitors have experienced significant appointment delays alongside a lack of pre-visit communication regarding necessary logistics, like arranging a driver for post-surgery dilation.
