We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Technical Qualifications: We checked each company for North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certifications to ensure high technical skill levels. A team with formal training guarantees your equipment is handled safely and effectively.

Pricing Transparency: We analyzed how these contractors present their estimates before starting any job. Transparent billing prevents property owners from being surprised by hidden fees after the work is completely finished.

Emergency Availability: We prioritized service providers who offer around-the-clock support for sudden mechanical breakdowns. Fast response times are critical when cooling systems fail during a severe summer heatwave.

Service Guarantees: We reviewed the specific warranties and labor protections offered by each local business. Strong guarantees show that a company stands behind its repairs and values long-term customer relationships.

Summers in Ohio can easily climb into the mid-80s, turning a malfunctioning cooling system into a major headache for homeowners and property managers alike.

When the heavy heat hits, finding the best aircon servicing in Columbus becomes a top priority to keep indoor temperatures comfortable and safe.

I understand that navigating the sea of HVAC companies can be confusing, especially when you need a trusted technician who’ll not overcharge for simple repairs.

To help you make an informed decision for your residential or commercial property, I’ve researched and evaluated the top local providers. Let’s dive into the details!

How much does aircon servicing cost in Columbus?

Aircon servicing in Columbus generally range from $70 to $150, though major emergency repairs can easily exceed $1,000 depending on the extent of the mechanical failure.

Service TypeEstimated Cost

Complex System Repairs$1,000+

Schedule: Available 24/7

Educating the customer is the primary focus at Fire & Ice Heating and Air Conditioning. I like how they have a comprehensive learning center that teaches homeowners how their equipment works and what to expect in terms of costs.

They also stand out as a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, meaning their technicians meet rigorous national training standards for specific installations.

Their strategic partnerships also allow them to handle plumbing and electrical issues during the same visit, making them highly convenient.

I recently spoke with a facility manager who used them for a multi-unit tune-up, and he appreciated how their upfront diagnostic estimates eliminated any post-service billing surprises.

It’s clear that they prioritize honest, long-term mechanical fixes over quick, temporary repairs.

However, their geographic dispatch area is strictly limited to specific local zip codes. You might find yourself outside their service zone if you live on the extreme outskirts of Central Ohio.

Pros

  • NATE-certified technician expertise
  • Hyper-localized Central Ohio focus
  • Transparent yearly maintenance agreements
  • Up-front diagnostic estimates
  • Integrated plumbing and electrical services

Cons

  • Dispatch area is strictly limited to specific zip codes
  • Equipment brand specialization narrows manufacturer options

Professional and knowledgeable

Fire & Ice is a great company. Shane Meade the sales representative was very professional and knowledgeable, never pressured me and gave me time to make a decision for the installation of a new furnace and AC.  When I called him with my decision he was able to schedule the installation for the next day.

Highly recommend

Alex did a fantastic job fixing my family’s AC unit! He was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He explained why the unit was leaking, gave helpful tips on maintaining it, and had it running perfectly in no time. We haven’t had any issues since, and if anything ever comes up again, I’m confident Alex would take care of it. I highly recommend him and the company!

Finding a contractor with specialized knowledge gives you peace of mind. Thankfully, Custom holds a Trane Comfort Specialist designation that requires high standards for training and customer satisfaction.

They bring decades of stability to the local market as a family-run operation established in 1976. They also maintain a broad geographic reach across Central Ohio suburbs, offering consistent support for residents throughout the entire metro area.

I also appreciate their maintenance approach. It focuses on boosting overall system longevity through a systematic multi-point inspection of electrical connections and safety controls.

On the downside, their deep concentration on a single manufacturer means their factory-backed expertise is somewhat narrow if you prefer other equipment makes.

Although their elite workforce ensures high technical proficiency, this brand specialization might deter some property owners.

Pros

  • Round-the-clock emergency support
  • Systematic multi-point maintenance inspections
  • Structured member benefits and regular cleanings
  • Broad geographic service reach across suburbs

Cons

  • Primary expertise is heavily concentrated on a single brand
  • New system installations focus mainly on Trane models

Awesome company to deal with. The tech Sam very friendly, professional and knew what he was doing. The office personnel very friendly and Baron was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me. Will definitely be using Custom Air for all my HVAC services going forward.

Custom Air Conditioning and Heating Co. has provided us two years of excellent service as part of their Maintenance program for heating and air conditioning. They are easy to schedule and charge very reasonable fees. We have not needed to use them for any type of service problem. They have cleaned our air conditioning unit and kept it in tip top shape.

3. Columbus Worthington Air

Website: https://www.cwaohio.com/

Address: 6363 Fiesta Drive

Contact: 614-405-7819

Schedule: Monday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Property owners looking for extensive historical experience will appreciate Columbus Worthington Air.

Aside from providing local cooling services for over 90 years, they also operate as the largest Bryant Factory Authorized dealer in the region, providing manufacturer-backed training for every job.

Their technicians even pass thorough pre-employment background checks, ensuring safety and professionalism inside your home. They manage everything from basic heat pumps to complex indoor air quality systems with ease.

Managing large properties sometimes requires coordinating with general contractors for complete overhauls, but having a dependable cooling specialist like them is equally crucial.

A significant drawback is that some of their service coupons require a minimum purchase amount to be valid. This policy limits your ability to save money on smaller, minor maintenance tasks around the house.

Pros

  • Comprehensive pre-employment background checks
  • Up-front detailed service estimates
  • Same-day repair service capability
  • Extensive system and equipment portfolio
  • Solid service and labor guarantees

Cons

  • Primary installation focus is heavily centered on Bryant
  • Service coupons often require a minimum purchase amount

Great experience from start to finish

Taylor and Jared from Columbus Worthington Air just completed the installation and replacement of my HVAC system, and I couldn’t be more pleased. They were professional, efficient, and clearly knowledgeable about their work. The installation was done with care and attention to detail, and they made sure everything was running smoothly before they left. Great experience from start to finish—highly recommend both the team and the company! Not forget Jennifer Who worked hard to get us the best price!

Kevin is a quintessential professional

Kevin is a quintessential professional. There is cost and then there is value. Kevin effectively explained all the work that needs to be done. And while it is more than what I had planned to spend, I know it will be worth the while. We look forward to having the work completed in the next week or two.

4. Classic Air

Address: 5180 Westerville Rd

Schedule: Available 24/7

Earning the Lennox Premier Dealer status means Clasic Air is held to rigorous manufacturer standards for both technical skill and high customer satisfaction scores.

Furthermore, this family-operated firm has over 40 years of multigenerational expertise in the Ohio climate and local housing styles.

Last summer, I hired them to inspect an aging condenser unit, and their strict 20-point checklist caught a failing capacitor before it could cause a complete breakdown.

I appreciate that they calculate customized system sizing rather than just swapping one box for another during an installation. Their transparent pricing policy also guarantees you pay exactly what is quoted without hidden fees.

One notable negative is their heavy focus on the Lennox brand for new installations. This brand-centric approach limits homeowners’ choices who have their hearts set on a different manufacturer.

Pros

  • Around-the-clock emergency repair availability
  • High technician certification hiring standards
  • Universal service capability for all equipment models
  • Customized system sizing calculations

Cons

  • Manufacturer deals are highly focused on the Lennox brand
  • Limited choice for homeowners preferring other manufacturers

Amazing service!

Tom from Classic Air was great! We discovered our furnace had stopped working upon our return from vacation. Our usual HVAC company wouldn’t provide emergency services on a Sunday so we called Classic Air. Twenty minutes later Tom called and said he would be able to get to us that same day. True to his word, he showed up at 6:30pm and by 9pm our furnace was working again! Amazing service!

Happy with the service

Classic Air has taken care of my HVAC maintenance in several homes and I’ve always been happy with the service. I had Tom for a long time, and Tony (Antonio) recently after I moved to a new area. They are on time and communicate when they are on their way. I get an email summarizing the work and any suggestions, and they have always taken the time to explain what was going on with my system. Thanks guys!

5. Sears Heating and Cooling

sears-heating-and-cooling

Website: https://www.searsheatingcooling.com/

Address: 3981 Cleveland Ave

Contact: 614-475-1800

Schedule: Available 24/7

Homeowners seeking an alternative to corporate chains will value Sears Heating and Cooling. This veteran-owned firm that has remained a local family operation since 1950.

I like how tey specifically train their technicians to diagnose and extend the life of existing equipment using a repair-first philosophy rather than pushing replacement sales.

If you’re ever coordinating with kitchen renovation services and need to rethink your entire home layout, saving money on equipment repairs can keep your budget intact.

They even offer free second opinions if another contractor tells you an expensive system replacement is necessary.

The main disadvantage is that their seasonal tune-up specials don’t include oil-fired heating and cooling setups. You’ll also have to pay an initial diagnostic fee for the technician to visit your property, though it is usually waived if a repair is performed.

Pros

  • Around-the-clock emergency availability
  • Flexible zero-interest financing options
  • Consistent track record of customer satisfaction
  • Comprehensive year-round maintenance program

Cons

  • Tune-up specials explicitly exclude oil-fired setups
  • Initial diagnostic fee is required for property visits

Really came through for us

Another local HVAC service had come out and tried to sell me expensive repairs and even recommended I replaced my furnace after a routine call. I reached out to Sears for a second opinion. Josh from Sears came out and inspected my furnace; he was kind and very informative. The team at Sears noted that there was no actual problem with my furnace and it just needed regular maintenance. In a world where finding someone to trust is seemingly impossible, Sears and Josh really came through for us. We will definitely use them again.

I highly recommend them

Always knowledgeable, they have cared for my hvac for the last 18 years in two homes. They were recommended to me back then and after 18 years of reliable, honest service, I highly recommend them to others. Joel, in particular, is great!
