We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range and Specialization: I selected companies that offer comprehensive services, including water testing, filtration systems, and more.

Experience and Certifications: I prioritized providers with certified technicians and a proven track record in water treatment solutions.

Product Quality: I looked at companies that use reliable, high-quality filtration systems and equipment.

Customer Feedback: I reviewed testimonials and ratings to ensure consistent customer satisfaction among different services.

When you turn on your tap, you expect clean, safe water. But that’s not always guaranteed. In Columbus, water quality can vary depending on your area, and investing in proper water treatment makes all the difference.

I didn’t think much about water filtration until I noticed a slight chlorine taste and buildup on my fixtures. After looking into it, I realized how much untreated water can affect everything (from drinking water to appliances).

Luckily, the city has several reliable providers that specialize in filtration, softening systems, and water testing.

Whether you’re dealing with hard water or just want peace of mind, there are several options available. With that, here’s a list of the best water treatment services in Columbus that’ll give you quality service and excellent results.

How much do water treatment services in Columbus cost?

Water treatment services in Columbus typically cost between $300 and $3,000+, depending on the type of system and service needed. Maintenance and filter replacements can add to ongoing costs.

Pure H2O Healthy Water is one of those companies that takes a very “whole-home health” approach rather than just selling a product.

A friend of mine had them do a free certified in-home water test, and it was surprisingly detailed. They checked everything from contaminants to overall water quality before even recommending anything.

They offer full systems like whole-home filtration, softeners, and reverse osmosis setups. Their RainSoft® Ultrefiner Elite stands out since it’s certified to reduce up to 99% of contaminants like lead, chlorine, and VOCs.

Pure H2O also installs the EC5 water conditioner, which helps prevent scale buildup and protects plumbing and appliances.

Another interesting add-on is their air purification system with UV-C and ozone technology, which runs through HVAC systems.

The biggest concern, though, is clarity around their lifetime warranty. Some clients felt the details weren’t fully explained up front.

Pros

  • Free in-home water testing
  • Advanced whole-home filtration systems
  • Includes air purification options

Cons

  • Unclear warranty terms

The work was clean, efficient, and done with attention to detail

We recently had our new Pure H2O system installed, and the experience with Matthew was excellent.  He arrived on time, was professional and clearly knowledgeable about the system.  He explained how everything worked, answered all our questions and made sure everything was functioning correctly before leaving.  The work was clean, efficient and done with attention to detail.  We highly recommend!!”

Very personable and a joy to work with

“We just had water conditioner, air purifier and drinking water system(not pictured) today.  So looking forward to clean and safe water.  The sales rep/water tester Ryan was awesome and showed us how many chemicals existed in our water.  He explained in detail how these system would fix our water issues.

Matthew the installer was equally awesome.  He was very efficient during all the installs and answered all of questions and thoroughly explained the install method he used, how each piece of equipment worked and about the maintenance of each!  Both Ryan and Matthew were very personable and a joy to work with!  I would highly recommend them both to anyone looking to purchase these systems.”

Midwest Water Systems feels like a very experienced, hands-on company that focuses on flexibility. They’ve been in the water treatment industry for over 30 years, and that experience shows in how many systems they can work with—not just their own products.

What I find useful is that they don’t limit installation to their own equipment. If you already bought a system elsewhere, they can still install it (though installation warranties don’t apply to customer-purchased units).

They also handle almost everything—softeners, reverse osmosis, UV systems, and full-home filtration setups.

Midwest offers free water testing during visits, checking minerals, and overall quality. Their annual RO filter service is also a strong point since it helps maintain system performance and includes a full home inspection

But they’re not the cheapest option, though, especially compared to basic installers. So, pricing can feel a bit high.

Pros

  • 30+ years of experience
  • Installs and services most systems
  • Free water testing included

Cons

  • Higher pricing than competitors

A company you can trust to be honest, fair, and quick with a resolution

Had a great experience with this company. From the prompt reply to my voicemail with a detailed explanation of the possible issues and solutions, to the quick trip out to assess my water softener and ultimately replacement of my water softener…everything was explained thoroughly and with kindness. No one wants to have to replace their water softener, but in the event that you need a repair or replacement, I 10/10 recommend Midwest Water Systems! This is a company you can trust to be honest, fair and quick with a resolution.”

Midwest was significantly cheaper (over a thousand)

“What a wonderful experience! I love supporting small business especially those who support our veterans! Eric was professional, knowledgeable, and timely. He wasn’t pushy, just upfront and honest. Not only is this system amazing, and I can truly tell a difference, but Midwest was significantly cheaper (over a thousand). The installation was even better than the consult. They show up on time, work quickly, and take the time to explain and answer questions. They worked very clean, were in and out of the house with little to no disruption. Eric was also available for questions the next day. I would recommend the complete package to anyone considering a water softener and/or reverse osmosis drinking water.”

A colleague of mine used Aqua Systems to address ongoing hard water issues, and they said the whole experience felt very structured and straightforward.

One thing they liked immediately was the flexibility in payment. There’s a “Better Water Now, Pay Later” option with 90 days of no payment or 12-month no-interest plans.

They’ve been in the industry for over 60 years, which is pretty impressive. And it shows in how they handle both installation and support. They offer water softeners, filtration systems, and even provide detailed specs so you actually know what you’re getting.

Another highlight is their 90-day money-back guarantee, which adds peace of mind. They also offer discounts on higher-tier systems and even help some customers with water bill assistance, depending on location.

The downside is that post-installation support scheduling can be frustrating if issues come up. They sometimes don’t answer calls.

Pros

  • Flexible payment options
  • 60+ years of experience
  • Money-back guarantee

Cons

  • Post-installation scheduling issues

They always have been prompt, professional, and reliable

I’ve been using Aqua Systems for my water purification system ever since I moved into my current house, eight years ago. They always have been prompt, professional, courteous and reliable; I am very happy with this company. Nick Green is the technician who had done the maintenance on my system before, and he did so again today. He did a spectacular job. He was fast, but thorough. He identified what needed to be done, explained clearly why it needed to be done and how often, and completed the work. I had several questions about the function and care of the system; he answered all of them patiently and in detail. I am completely satisfied with the service he provided at my property today.”

Very knowledgeable

“They came out right when they said they would, and charged me exactly what they said it would cost.  Mike was very knowledgeable and taught me a lot about my system. I see a lot of folks commenting about the service fee, but based on the quality of the system and what was done on the service call, the fee is a fraction of any replacement.”

Culligan is one of the most recognizable names in water treatment, and a neighbor who used them said the process felt very “guided” from start to finish.

They start with a free in-home water test that gives results in under 30 minutes, which is honestly pretty convenient.

Culligan offers a wide range of services. They have softeners, filtration systems, and well water treatment.

Their systems are also quite advanced. They have reverse osmosis units certified to reduce dozens of contaminants, including PFAS and lead.

What stood out is that they don’t just test and leave. They give expert recommendations within about 10 business days, which helps if you’re not sure what system you actually need.

However, communication can be inconsistent. Some customers report needing to call multiple times just to get a callback, which can be frustrating.

Pros

  • Fast, free water testing
  • Wide range of treatment services
  • Strong contaminant reduction systems

Cons

  • Reports of poor phone responsiveness

Very convenient service

Water tastes great. Fair pricing and fast delivery. I’m happy that I don’t have to search around town for a store that has water exchange available. I literally spend an extra $5 a month having it delivered than I did taking my empties to a store to exchange. Very convenient service.”

I have to say, we are very satisfied

“We moved from San Fransisco to Columbus due to my job.  Once we moved in, we noticed a taste in the city water where we live.  We   looked around and the feedback on Culligan Water were great so we decided to go with them.  I have to say we are very satisfied with the initial call, the ordering process, the DocuSign process so I don’t have to go and meet someone.  What made the entire experience amazing are 2 more things.  1st, the water tastes AMAZING…..the 2nd, the guy that brings in the water every other Tuesday is BYOND amazing….very kind, helpful, and bring the items right to the door with a smile.  I am sure it is not an easy job to do all day long, but he does it with a smile.  I will ask him for his name and updated this review so his managers can know as well.”

Hempy Water Conditioning is a true veteran in the water treatment space. They’ve been around since 1952, which immediately gives them that “trusted local expert” vibe.

They handle everything from hard water and iron stains to sulfur and chlorine issues, so they’re used to dealing with pretty complex water problems.

What stands out is how broad their experience is. They service and repair almost every major brand you can think of, from Kinetico to Culligan and Fleck systems. That kind of flexibility is rare and makes them useful even if you didn’t originally buy from them.

Hempy also offers free installation on rental systems, no long-term contracts, and even seasonal maintenance with salt delivery.

On top of that, they’re active in the community, sponsoring events and supporting local initiatives. They give out free bottled water to all participants.

The only drawback is scheduling. Getting service appointments can sometimes take longer than expected.

Pros

  • Over 70 years of experience
  • Services most major brands
  • No-contract rental options

Cons

  • Reports of scheduling delays

The water tastes amazing and is incredibly pure

Corbin is someone who consistently goes above and beyond. He’s not just focused on making a sale,  he genuinely cares about recommending the right product. That confidence and honesty made it easy for me to refer him to my friends, and they are all so happy with Hempy Water. The water tastes amazing and is incredibly pure. I couldn’t recommend Corbin and Hempy Water more.”

Very professional throughout the consultation

“We purchased our home water softener system through Costco. Corbin from Hempy came to our house explained all of our options and conducted a water test of our current water. He was very professional throughout the consultation and answered all of our questions. The day of the install, Caleb called 30 minutes before to give us a heads up he was on his way. He was meticulous during the install of our system and explained everything to us before leaving.”
