The 5 Best Truck Repair Services in Columbus So You Can Get Back on the Road

best-truck-repair-columbus
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Range of Capabilities: A good shop should handle everything from routine maintenance to major engine overhauls. We prioritized businesses equipped to service multiple diesel brands and complex commercial systems.

Turnaround Times: Keeping downtime to a minimum is essential for busy owner-operators. We looked for repair centers that offer fast diagnostics or priority scheduling.

Parts Availability: Waiting weeks for a simple replacement component can ruin your operational timeline. Shops that maintain large in-house inventories of heavy-duty parts ranked much higher on our list.

Customer Transparency: Honest communication about pricing makes all the difference when budgeting for your fleet. We carefully checked if mechanics provided clear estimates and straightforward follow-ups before the service.

Specialized Equipment: Modern trucks require advanced software to accurately read electronic control modules. We specifically evaluated the diagnostic tools and specialized bays each facility uses to ensure accurate fixes.

When your rig is down, every minute stuck on the shoulder feels like dollar bills flying right out of your wallet. If your livelihood depends on your time on the road, it’s essential to keep your vehicle running smoothly, instead of waiting for towing to arrive.

But finding the best truck repair service in Columbus isn’t as easy as you think. You need a dependable service that can offer more than just quick fixes.

So, we’ve put in the miles and looked for the top repair technicians in the city, picking based on their service quality, accessibility, and transparency. From minor repairs to maintenance, here are our trusted providers to keep your engine running smoothly!

Address: 1515 Frank Rd

We like the flexibility provided by Wiers Fleet Service & Truck Repair, which combines 24/7 mobile roadside assistance with fully equipped service bays.

They focus heavily on customized solutions, ensuring your vehicle won’t receive unnecessary services, from routine tune-ups to complex fixes.

Honestly, their expertise isn’t surprising, since their factory-trained technicians handle specialized equipment, like hydraulic systems and boom trucks, with absolute precision.

On the flip side, their credit account approval process can be pretty difficult for small owner-operators to secure.

Also, despite advertising round-the-clock availability, some dispatchers have struggled to book immediate mobile support during late-night emergencies.

Pros

  • Flexible mobile and in-shop repair options
  • Handles DOT compliance tracking
  • Dedicated Fleet Partner program
  • Repairs specialized commercial equipment

Cons

  • Credit approval is difficult for small operators

Have been taking care of our trucks

Wiers Fleet Truck Repair is a great place to get your trucks fixed up. They have been taking care of our trucks for sometime now and nothing but good things to say. Anything from Tabitha taking care of us at the counter to Jason giving the best explanations and Brian always there when we need him.

Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful

The staff at Weirs-Columbus are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.  They are focused on doing the job right, and not just getting the job done.  They worked on our 20-year-old truck.  They could have cut corners, but they chose to fix the problem and not just get it back on the road. I highly recommend them.

One of our picks is FleetBarn because they’re a dependable spot for diverse vehicle brands. They specialize in diesel truck and refrigeration unit repairs.

You can bring in a heavy-duty semi or a medium-duty delivery van, and their team will get right to work minimizing your downtime.

They also provide comprehensive technical capabilities, including complex air-conditioning service and essential suspension fixes. Plus, their customized maintenance programs are a great way to keep operating costs totally in check.

If you get stuck out on the road, their mobile breakdown support can handle sudden transmission trouble or routine brake adjustments.

4. Skinner Diesel Services

Website: https://skinnerdieselservice.com/

Address: 2440 Lockbourne Rd

Contact: 614-491-8785

Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Skinner Diesel Services operates as a full-service repair hub. As an all-in-one spot, they can assist with advanced collision restoration and commercial radiator fixes.

Their manufacturer-trained technicians use top-notch multi-brand diagnostic software to trace electronic faults quickly and accurately.

When we dropped by their shop, we were completely blown away by their enormous 40,000-square-foot space.

Being part of the HDA Truck Pride network, North America’s largest independent commercial vehicle aftermarket provider, gives them better access to a massive inventory.

Because they maintain a giant in-house inventory of parts, you rarely have to sit around waiting for basic components to ship.

But you might need to pack some patience when trying to plan your budget. There were instances of delayed responses when sending out initial estimates, and follow-up communication often falls flat.

Pros

  • Massive in-house parts inventory
  • Uses advanced multi-brand diagnostic tools
  • Huge 40,000 sq ft space
  • Part of the HDA Truck Pride network

Cons

  • Delayed response times for service estimates
  • Follow-up communication is often inconsistent

Customer Reviews

They took the time to explain things

We will definitely come here for service when in the area. They took the time to explain things to me (a woman) and prevented me from spending hundreds of dollars on something that didn’t need it. Greatly appreciated.

Very knowledgeable and very helpful

It’s hard for a small business owner to get a credit account here but the service is 5 star. I have been using this place for years now and the entire crew is great especially Ron Bell which is the head guy. He is very knowledgeable and very helpful. They work on all types of trucks and have different departments like a body shop there.

5. Jones Truck & Spring Repair

jones-truck-spring-repair

Website: https://jonesspring.com/

Address: 350 Frank Road

Contact: 614-443-4619

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday (Seasonally) 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Jones Truck & Spring Repair specializes in precision wheel alignments and professional frame straightening for big rigs. They prioritize vehicle stability, reducing tire wear, and extending the lifespan of critical components.

Their 10-bay drive-through facility allows them to handle the toughest undercarriage problems quickly. Even better, they’re equipped with computerized racks and straightening systems for effective and efficient jobs.

They even use a sophisticated Vehicle Inspection System (VIS) to properly test commercial brake performance.

Conveniently, they’re a massive parts distributor, maintaining one of the state’s largest inventories of leaf springs and lift axles. If you need heavy-duty modifications, they’re a factory distributor for specialized dump bodies and auxiliary components, too.

However, their alignment services occasionally take much longer than originally quoted. A few drivers have also felt slightly pressured by aggressive upselling tactics after declining non-essential repair recommendations.

Pros

  • Expert in heavy suspension and frame repair
  • Large inventory of leaf springs and axles
  • Huge 10-bay drive-through facility
  • Use computerized alignment equipment

Cons

  • Alignment work can take longer than quoted
  • Some customer-reported aggressive upselling tactics
