I used to think golf was just a boring sport that wealthy people love. You know, the Ralph Lauren shirts, the demure claps, and the old-money laugh (if you know, you know).
But then I was invited to a birthday party at a modern golf club and unexpectedly had a good time. But what really surprised me is that it’s not as easy as it looks—just getting the posture right felt like my hip was gonna cramp any second.
By the end of the day, I actually wanted to learn more about it. My friend, an avid golfer, recommended these golf coaches in Columbus, which are suitable for golfers of all skill levels.
How much do golf lessons cost in Columbus?
Golf lessons typically cost between $70 and $125 per hour in Columbus, depending on the facility, lesson format, and duration.
1. Golftec

Address: 2172 Citygate Dr.
Phone: +16144284653
Business Hours:
- Monday to Thursday, 9 AM–9 PM
- Friday, 8 AM–8 PM
- Saturday and Sunday, 8 AM–6 PM
Golftec is one of the most impressive providers we found in the city. It has operated for over 25 years, combining personalized teaching with advanced technology to deliver precision and high proficiency.
First off, the place is climate-controlled and simulator-based—so it’s like the real thing, but without having to worry about the weather.
And alongside your own personal coach, they’re pretty heavy on using high-tech equipment, such as motion capture and high-speed cameras. This is effective for visual learners who are particular about hip position and swaying.
There’s even an AI-powered system called OptiMotion that tracks your swing without having to wear bulky and awkward sensors.
However, Golftec is an investment. According to the students, it’s definitely more expensive here than at other schools. The initial check alone (called Swing Evaluation) costs $125.
But most customers find the value worthwhile, given the tech support and the effective lessons from seasoned PGA professionals and long-time teachers.
I wish I had signed up sooner
Went in for a club fitting. Ended up getting signed up for a 12-month lesson. I’ve received a lot of flak from friends saying I just “need to go out and play” to get better. This is the best decision I’ve ever made. I wish I had signed up sooner. Dustin Sites is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. He’s broken down our sessions, starting at the basics. I’ve gotten better after every lesson. Before Golfte,c I lacked the basic mechanics of my swing and couldn’t learn from a previous ‘bad shot’. Now I can dissect it and improve on the next one. I’ve already shaved strokes after 6 sessions. I look forward to going to my sessions. Dustin is honest but also very encouraging. Very clean and professional-looking facility.

I have seen great improvements in my ball contact and accuracy
Josh has been an excellent coach. He breaks down your swing so that you can easily identify what to focus on for improvement. The drills are simple, and I have seen great improvements in my ball contact and accuracy. I would recommend Josh to anyone who needs a major or minor tune-up!

2. The Golf Room

Address: 6615 Dublin Center Dr.
Phone: +16147475006
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7 AM–9 PM
- Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM–5 PM
The Golf Room was founded by former professional golfer Kyle Morris and has been operating for 11 years. They don’t just teach you how to swing properly, but they will also help you get your head in the game.
Their team includes experts like Lindsay Becker on body mechanics and Dr. Kays on the mental game, who will work together to dive into your skill level and thought processes.
This makes the facility a great option for passionate golfers aiming for scholarships or competitions who need clear headspace to perform well.
They also don’t fall behind in technology. They use various tools, such as TrackMan 4 to analyze ball flight and K-Vest 3D to analyze your body movement.
But the most unique feature we found is the focus band, a headset that measures your brain waves to see if you’re concentrating or overthinking.
Their plans range from $335 to $400 per month. It’s certainly a financial commitment, but given the focus on overall development, the value seems worth it.
Even many students agree that it’s a great investment. They cited that a combination of physical and mental coaching can really do wonders, especially when you’ve hit a plateau.
Amazing progress in just a week
“Just one lesson for my 13-year-old daughter with Pete and a few practices on her own, and she went from barely hitting her driver 110 yards to 167 yards today —AMAZING progress in just a week. I can’t wait to see how she looks in 6 months.”

Top-notch, state-of-the-art facilities
“I hadn’t had any proper instruction for over 20 years and decided to get some insights into what seems to be holding me back. John, my instructor, gave me some great drills to work on that will keep me busy and focus exactly on the main swing faults he analyzed that I need to work on. This was exactly what I was looking for in this introductory lesson. Top-notch, state-of-the-art facilities at the Golf Room, it’s an impressive place.”

3. Swing Space

Address: 5931 E Main St.
Phone: +16146940006
Business Hours:
- Monday to Thursday, 9 AM–9 PM
- Friday and Sunday, 9 AM–10 PM
- Saturday, 9 AM–8 PM
If what you’re looking for is more relaxed, casual sessions, Swing Space Golf is a favorite among many social golfers in the city. It’s an indoor venue and simulator-based, so you can either practice by yourself or take lessons comfortably.
While the facility offers the same technology pros use (such as Trackman), regulars described the lessons here as more laid-back. You can literally grab a drink and a hot dog in between.
And get this—you can also join leagues and weekly tournaments here if you’d like to engage in friendly competitions and test your skills.
We also like that their pricing is flexible, offering both hourly rentals and long-term memberships. Their individual lessons cost $100 per hour, which is reasonable given that the instructors are PGA professionals.
But you can also reduce costs by purchasing a package of four lessons or joining a group coaching session.
Just note that the place isn’t just a golf facility; it’s also a venue for events with food and drinks. It can get loud, especially on weekends.
Fun and welcoming
“We’ve worked with Swing Space for multiple events — including the Memorial Tournament, U.S. Open Golf Championship, and Ryder Cup Matches — and they’ve been outstanding every time!! The simulator was a true wow factor for our guests and added an interactive, memorable element to each event. James and his team are excellent on-site — professional, knowledgeable, and engaging — with great techniques and an ability to keep the atmosphere fun and welcoming for a corporate crowd. Highly recommend Swing Space for any event looking to elevate the guest experience!”

Helped fix a lot of issues that I’ve been trying to fix for the last year
“Been going here for a while and finally decided to give the lessons a spin with John. Just about 45 minutes, and he helped fix a lot of issues that I’ve been trying to fix for the last year. Simplifies your feels/swing thoughts, to get the optimal result, excited to take a couple more before the season starts back up!”

4. Ohio State University Golf Club

Address: 3605 Tremont Rd
Phone: +16145144653
Business Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:30 AM–7 PM
For golfers who prefer learning in a place with a strong championship history in the sport, you can never go wrong with one of the nation’s top golf programs.
Here, the lessons focus more on real golf scenarios and challenges (such as wet courses) with PGA- and TPI-certified instructors. They’ll teach you all about green reading, game strategy, and basically the skills you’ll need in real rounds.
And with these programs that focus on practical skills, many players frequently talked about having more confidence and power they didn’t know they had—sometimes just by simply correcting their posture or adjusting their swing force.
The price range is $120 for a 1-hour session and $ 75 for a half-hour lesson. There’s also a 5-week summer program for junior golfers that costs $300 per child.
Unfortunately, the facility isn’t open to the general public. It’s a semi-private club, and you must have an active affiliation with the university (student, alumni, staff, etc.) to access its golf lessons.
Top-notch course shape
“Played the Scarlet course and it is in top-notch shape. Greens are rolling great after aeration a few weeks ago. Rough presents more challenge of you’re off the fairway. Clubhouse food and service were great after the round as well.”

Great test of skills for all golfers
“Great test of skills for all golfers. Multiple tees to play from depending on skill/handicap. Multiple fairway bunkers require accuracy. Deep greenside bunkers present a tough challenge even for the low handicaps. Scarlet Course and Gray Course present similar challenges, but Scarlet is much tougher. Both courses are always in great shape, and the undulating greens are smooth and quick.”

5. Topgolf

Address: 2000 Ikea Wy
Phone: +16143171003
Business Hours:
- Monday to Thursday, 9 AM–11 PM
- Friday and Saturday, 9 AM–1 AM
- Sunday, 9 AM–12 AM
Many see Topgolf as a place for “golf-tainment” with drinks and appetizers, but it’s also home to a reliable coaching program that’s perfect for beginners, families, and friend groups.
Many players would describe the lessons here as approachable, easy to digest, and also fun. They mostly focus on the basics like grip, posture, and alignment that are guided by PGA-certified professionals.
What we like most is that the gameplay and technology here are interactive. Every hitting bay is equipped with Toptracer, which is a multi-angle video tracker that coaches use to analyze your play.
It’s a lively venue with a food and drinks menu, TVs throughout, and event spaces. So, coming here is like learning golf with a little night out on the side (or the other way around!)
A 60-minute individual lesson costs $99 for adults and $69 for juniors. Moreover, you can join a public class of up to 12 people for only $29/hour if you’re looking for a more affordable option.
However, we were disappointed to hear there appears to be a problem with the facility staff. A few guests mentioned slow service and a lack of accountability when problems arise.
The fun was non-stop
“OH. MY. GOSH! I had the most EPIC time at Top Gold!!! I’m still grinning from ear to ear thinking about it! The vibes were AMAZING, the fun was NON-STOP, and being with my favorite person made it all the more special! I’m already counting down the days until I can go back and do it all again! If you’re looking for a spot that’s OUT OF THIS WORLD, look no further! Top Gold is a MUST VISIT! can’t wait to go back!”

Amazing experience
“Amazing experience. I went there for a staff party. Surprisingly ADA-compliant. I was really worried about how to navigate the place with my cerebral palsy. Shout out to Craig, he was so kind and accommodating. 10/10 service. That man deserves a raise. Food was also fantastic! Thanks, Top Golf, for a great time!”
