My friend and I share a love of collecting history—and by that, I mean hoarding. I walked into her childhood home recently, and saw that her attic was stacked with boxes from decades ago—family photos, baby clothes and toys, and other nostalgic trinkets.
And while that was cute in its own way, we realized that all this stuff is slowly taking over her space. What was supposed to be contained in her attic piled into the other rooms as well.
She eventually realized she could benefit from a professional organizer in Columbus. Of course, I was more than happy to help her out. If you’re a hoarder like us, you can get expert decluttering help using our handy list.
How much do professional organizers charge in Columbus?

Jean Herr Organizing is a small owner-run business in Columbus that specializes in relationship-based assistance with organizing and moving.
People we spoke with appreciate that the owner, Jean, is very hands-on. Her team even incorporates visual storytelling into its arrangements, which several competitors don’t emphasize as much.
Additionally, the owner is highly credible, as a certified photo organizer and a member of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals (NAPO). After all, she’s all about safeguarding family legacy by securing important memories.
If you need help with ongoing home tasks, we appreciate that the company offers concierge services. This is ideal for busy professionals or adults managing a parent’s home remotely.
They can provide a comprehensive home inventory report too. This is key to documenting insurance claims, estate, and financial planning.
The only downside for us is that they have a very small team, which makes scheduling less flexible during busy periods than at larger companies.
Great at organizing and downsizing
“Besides being great at organizing and downsizing, Jean is an informative and engaging speaker. She provides practical tips on how to start the downsizing process and makes a huge project feel manageable. I would encourage any communities serving older adults to refer her services.”
– Africa Thomas, Google Review
She saw value in so many things that I would have let go of
“I was referred to Jean Herr by a professional home organizer. Jean came to my home to look over boxes of items I wanted to depart with. I had in my mind those that could be sold and those that I would donate. Surprising to me was the value she saw in so many things that I would have let go. For example, she looked at a coffee carafe and told me it was mid-century modern and had monetary value. Of course, I had no clue. She also offered her estimate of value for many items. That set me on the course of working with her. As an aside, I experienced a feeling of grateful nostalgia as Jean expressed appreciation for what we were uncovering. That felt special.”

Business Hours:
- Mon-Fri: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
- Sat-Sun: Closed
The Grit Method Home Organizing is a team-based home-organizing company in Columbus that focuses on major life transitions—moves, downsizing, and estate cleanouts.
We appreciate that they have a diverse, moderately sized team of organizers, which allows them to move quickly on big projects. Besides being problem solvers, they are also moms, teachers, nurses, therapists, and more.
Moreover, they are recognized by partners such as Wayne Homes and through local interviews. Even their owner, Nettie, has already appeared in the media to offer organizing tips.
Some clients also note that the team donates most of its time to local organizations in need. For us, this demonstrates their thoughtfulness and efficiency in handling unwanted items in good condition.
The standard rate is $100 per organizer per hour, with a 6-hour minimum per project day. But since many independent organizers charge roughly $60 to $100 per hour, this company’s fees are at the higher end of the city’s range.
If you want to save more, we recommend their DIY package that starts at $500. This already includes a custom plan, step-by-step instructions, product and donation recommendations, and email support.
Always shocked by how they creatively come up with solutions
“The Grit Method is amazing. I’m a pretty organized person, but I’m always shocked by how they creatively come up with solutions for my spaces. They make them functional and beautiful at the same time. This is the second time that I’ve used this company and I know I’ll be back in the future.”
– Jennifer Eckel, Google Review
I love showing off the areas they organized
“I went from drowning in the clutter in my home. I called them in desperation and they were so quick to schedule us and helped us. They were so professional never made me feel bad about my clutter. Now I feel like I have a completely new home and I love showing off the areas they organized! They communicated well and the women who I worked with were such a joy! I can’t wait to use them again. I highly recommend!”

3. The Joyful Sort

Business Hours:
- Mon-Fri: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Sat-Sun: Closed
The Joyful Sort is a premium, team-based home-organizing company serving busy families seeking a beautiful, practical space. The team also offers move management and “spruce” sessions to refresh and fine-tune existing spaces.
Their founder, Kelly, has more than 10 years of human resources experience before starting the business. For us, this suggests she has the knowledge and skills to build strong relationships and understand people well.
We are fans of their Instagram-ready style too, which they balance with functionality. They often talk about “choosing joy,” so they aim for systems that look good and are easy to live with. You can check this out from their handy online portfolio.
Their standard organizing sessions start at $900 with 4 hours of hands-on time with a minimum of 3 organizers. In our view, this makes their process fast and minimizes delays. Just note that there are additional fees for projects more than 30 miles from Columbus.
The problem is that someone we spoke with said the assistants hired for her session were either inexperienced or insufficiently trained.
Incredibly organized my daughters’ closets and playroom
“Joyful sort was amazing!!!! They organized my daughters closets and playroom and WOW looks incredible!! I want them to do my whole house! Thank you so much!!!!”
– Libby Weprin, Google Review
Did in 4 hours what would take me 4 years
“The Joyful Sort team definitely earns five stars for their work at my home. They did in four hours what would take me four years. They gently nudge you to make the right choices, but do not make you feel pressured. They systematically work together as a team to help you do what’s right in your home and I will be grateful for them forever for the expertise, organization, and system they created for me and my family for our storage room and playroom! Thanks again!”

4. Organizing the Details: Amie Lopez

Contact Details: +1 614 395 8745
Business Hours:
- Mon-Thu: 8:30 am to 7:00 pm
- Fri: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
- Sat-Sun: Closed
Run by Amie Lopez, Organizing the Details is a full-service organizing support company that helps with spaces, moves, and events—not just closets and pantries.
They pride themselves on being quite thorough as planners. There’s a multi-step process from consultation and proposal to review and scheduling that keeps everything on track.
Beyond sorting items, hauling trash, and arranging donations, we find it incredible that the team even coordinates with other helpers. This includes carpenters and movers to ensure they can handle all the details flawlessly.
Their pricing is custom, demonstrating flexibility for clients’ budgets and preferences. Although we still think this makes it challenging to compare their fees with competitors’.
Given that they provide concierge-style support, we believe they are more similar to other higher-touch Columbus organizers than to budget hourly declutterers.
Another consideration is that their time-intensive steps may feel slow or burdensome to those who prefer a quick, simple one-closet job completed sooner.
Worth every penny and can’t recommend enough
“We love working with Amie & her team! We’ve used her for everything from smaller personal home organization to large business projects. I literally don’t know what we’d do without her! Worth every penny and can’t recommend enough.”
– Taylor Ford, Google Review
It’s an absolute gift to work with them
“Amie and her team are nothing short of AMAZING! I had them organize when we moved, and then they have done some re-organizing. It’s an absolute gift to work with them and come home from a weekend trip to a freshly organized home. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!”
– Andrew Whiteman, Google Review
5. OrganizeMe!

Contact Details: +1 419 509 5466
Business Hours:
- Mon-Sat: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Sun: Closed
OrganizeMe! is a solo professional organizing service in Columbus that focuses on calm, patient help for everyday homes, offices, and garages. They are also members of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing (NAPO) chapter in Ohio.
What we value most about them is that they address emotional situations that many declutterers overlook. The team specifically offers bereavement support through sorting a loved one’s belongings.
Additionally, the team offers downsizing sessions for those who love to hoard or who keep many things “just in case.”
And since they are a solo, in-home company, they don’t have frills like extra stylists or big teams. This is why we think their pricing is likely in the standard Columbus range for independent organizers. It’s best to reach out and confirm their fees.
Just remember that, given their small operation, they will also be slower for larger, whole-home projects.
Well worth it for the peace of mind
“Leslie organized my husband and my closet and we couldn’t be happier! She made the process easy for us while being extremely approachable and kind. This is one of those activities we said we’d do for years and never seemed to find the time! I am glad we invested in doing this – it is well worth it for the peace of mind that comes with being able to find your own stuff !”
– Ally McNamara, Google Review
Thorough, prompt, trustworthy, and easy to work with
“Leslie is amazing! She customized the project for my family’s needs. With her help, I let go of things that I truly hadn’t used in years. She is thorough, prompt, trustworthy, professional and easy to work with. I would give her more stars if I could and highly recommend her.”
