I almost managed that alone too, but I didn’t want to DIY my own failure. For my sake, I stepped back and called proper landscaping artists in Columbus from my own contacts. But many of them gave me poor customer service, outdated portfolios, and pricey fees!

Pitzer’s Landscaping in Columbus is a family-operated company that has been in the industry since 1991. Because of this, I think it has adequate experience in residential design, lawn replacement, and topsoil installation.
I like that this company is highly collaborative as well. Depending on your vision, it can turn your lawn into your own personal oasis, from installing bushes to creating flowerbeds.
Plus, it’s impressive to me that its experts use innovative lawn installation techniques for replacement services. For example, it uses hydroseeding (spraying a slurry of seed, water, mulch, and fertilizer) to install the lawns.
Not only does this prevent erosion, but it’s also among the speediest ways to install it! In my opinion, this speaks volumes about the team’s effectiveness and efficiency.
But though the team offers full-service yard renovations, I noticed they don’t seem to do regular maintenance, like mowing, fertilizing, and similar options.
Should you be interested, you can call the staff for a free estimate. A client also raved to me about the team’s reliability in giving her a fast and friendly quotation.
Nevertheless, I would’ve preferred if this company also offered other communication channels, such as online booking or email, for added convenience.

Lemus Landscaping LLC caters to both residential and commercial clients, as well as those in Columbus within a 60-mile radius. For me, this shows how adaptable and accessible its team is when handling most project sizes.
Other than that, I appreciate its lovely online gallery. It features a bunch of modern, sleek, and clean designs that I reckon many clients can take inspiration from.
Besides landscaping, it’s handy for me that it offers tree services, gutter cleaning, and snow removal as well. If you need multiple services, I feel you won’t need to call another team to handle everything in one visit.
Plus, it’s convenient for me that it has 2 phone numbers. You’ll probably have better chances of reaching the staff this way, in my opinion. You can email them as well!
And given that it only started in 2019, I think it’s great that this company already looks competitive with the many good online reviews it gets. Still, it’s a relatively younger company with a smaller portfolio compared to some long-established names.

This includes weeding, mulching, edging, raising beds, planting and transplanting, mowing, pruning, weekly maintenance, and more. Because of this, I think this option has among the most comprehensive services in the city!
Moreover, I love that its website has plenty of high-quality photos showcasing its previous projects. For me, you can see how its landscaping suits the properties it’s on. If you’re very particular about the aesthetics, I bet you’ll appreciate this as well.
That said, I feel that the company’s small team size might limit its capacity to work on multiple projects at the same time. In my opinion, it’s smart to book the team weeks (or even months) in advance if interested.

Need to work within a tight budget? I like that Bears Landscape & Design is commended for offering affordable landscaping services in Columbus. It has worked on many small projects too, so I reckon it can make the best of any yard.
I’m happy that this applies, whether you’re starting from scratch or reimagining an existing yard. A previous client told me that the team is highly collaborative and listened well to her goals, style, and budget.
Apart from landscape design and planning, it also provides mulch and sod installations, hardscaping, and seasonal cleanups—everything to keep your yard tidy, functional, and beautiful.
It’s helpful for me that it offers emergency services too! You can reach its team at any time if you need their assistance.
The only drawback for me is that this company seems to be easily fully booked. During peak times, a former client told me that it didn’t accept last-minute bookings easily.

GreenScapes is among the most established landscaping companies in Columbus, having been in the game since 1977 for home and business landscaping and maintenance.
Moreover, it’s incredible for me that it has a team with almost every professional you’ll need! This involves landscape architects, designers, estimators, horticulturalists, arborists, and craftsmen.
I’m also impressed with its advanced rendering tools. You’ll see the designs in 3D to help you visualize your project before the team begins the construction. This lets you explore materials and layouts, so there are no regrets once the work starts.
On top of that, I find its previous works very aspirational. You can browse through numerous sophisticated designs that I reckon look ideal for bigger and more colorful outdoor spaces.
Though of course, its big team requires higher costs too. But if you want a reputable company for a large-scale (or ambitious) lawn project, I think its experts are worth a call.

Excellent Job
“Greenscapes designed and installed our hardscape to replace a leaning retainer wall. They had a few challenges with a buried propane tank that could not be moved, lines running into the house, septic and a steep hill running along the back of the house. Adam did a wonderful job with his proposed design and Curt the PM did an excellent job with the execution. Eddie, the on-site lead kept us apprised of all the work planned each day. Adam and Curt were also very receptive to a change in design midway through execution when a space marked for no use would be better suited for a firepit and natural rock seating. Would recommend Greenscapes every time!”
